Hello jolly old souls, Andy here, Tup manager, back for another round of banter!
Care to enlighten me please on who told you to 'f**k off Mr Double Top, thats my priviledge only and many a customer has deserved it believe it or not, just because we're a service industry doesn't mean we have to put up with the crap we get when you've had one too many beers! As for not giving a s**t about the pub as you put it, you're quite wrong to think it's because I'm leaving that you think that is the reason, there has to be a reason why I'm leaving and if you had the balls to approach me first with your greivances, you may well have a different view of the whole picture, and not gone home, actually joined beer in the evening that very night and made assumptions. The Tup has been a big part of my life for 4yrs+, I even left my family back in Birmingham for a whole year before moving them in, as it was such a crap hole, so sacrifices have been made many times and the extra mile gone more than I care to remember. So do I give a S**t about the place, of course I do! What i would like you to do is come and tell me who told you to 'F**k off because if proven true and undeserved, I very much doubt that my superior will want her to continue their employment here { the 3 on that night were all women who I know very well and am very surprized to hear this story}. So, if you have gone to the trouble of signing up that very night and stating your complaint, you may as well take it a step further and contact me! Sorry about the real ale choice busman77, had lots of kickback about that, we built our real ale reputation on the weird and wonderful choices of ale we had, quite a few don't bother now because they can get what we serve elsewhere and cheaper. People were prepared to pay more for originality but I am but a mere manager and have to do as I'm told, still we serve a top point of ale as you quite rightly pointed out thank you. On a very good note, a new licensee will be arriving very soon you'll be happy to hear. I believe he is a top chap and very food orientated, I think The Tup will become much more food focussed and get it's edge back with fresh blood, new ideas and a new much better looking chap at the helm. I'm off to pastures new and will miss The Tup and the majority of its patrons, at 45 I'm way too old to put up with crap from anyone anymore and so will be leaving the pub trade for good after 20+ years of hard slog, and for the most part I've loved it. No doubt I'll be back on here a couple of more times yet ;-} to air my views! Bye for now and a very happy and healthy 2009 to all. Andy

Rinkly, when was the last time you came in. The blinds have been up four months now, the grotty old blanket as you called it was actually a shoulder wrap blocking out the sun so that the screen could be viewed properly. Yes 4 months minimum so your last visit then was at least 4 months ago, i actually come on to this site now and then not because i give a hoot about your saddo comment, most of them are from so called competitors anyway, but because i enjoy replying. Last 18 of 9500 licensees in a recent competition, 2nd out of another 7500 licensees again this year in another major competition, pub breaking all records, you make me laugh man! LOL LOL LOL. I actually leave in March, god help the pub then. Last 3 pubs i've taken on from close downs to hugely successful pubs, within 6 - 12 months of me leaving, guess what, all closed down again. Jobs up for grabs if you fancy it. Be a great time to take on GJ's when i leave, but then most of the comments on here are from GJ's. Tata.

ok place this, i drink here and The Tup. Foods good but its hit and miss if its on or not unfortunately. Beer is ok too but i like a pint of real ale sometimes so i tend to visit the Tup more. Friendly staff and good atmosphere.

Just moved in to the area too,we viewed 6 pubs within a mile and the Tup won hands down,it didn't look any better than most of them, in fact a lot of the furniture though clean, looked old and tatty for a place which i was informed was new. What won it for us and our mates was the general overall feeling of being welcome and appreciated for a change. Roll on the summer, great garden.
