drinker451 - either we are talking about different incidents or you are a relative/friend of the landlord. He is the one who gets drunk on red wine and either swears at his customers or says improper things to them - usually the women. Around town he now has a reputation for his actions. As said before - a real shame as it used to be a real pleasure to pop in there if you wanted a good pint in a traditional pub.

Heard the landlord telling his customers to f off a while back while trying to enjoy a pint having come home for the weekend. Apparently he can be a nasty piece of work. Shame - I used to enjoy drinking in there.

had the worst pint of beer i have ever had in here and got a filthy look for taking it back. avoid if you like good beer and good company.

without a doubt this is the best beer in the best pub for miles and miles around. the locals are fantastic and friendly and there is always someone to chat with and share rounds with. all the bar staff are brilliant. a real bonus is no kids, no fruit machines, no loud music, no pool table , no dart board, no karaoke, no happy hour (they are all happy) no keg-like beers and no food - unless you count cheesy moments as a meal! superb way to spend a evening

The Oddfellows Arms, Chelmsford
Excellent beer in a proper pub - sadly few and far between in Chelmsford these days. Steve the landlord is a superb bloke and really knows how to look after his beer. My recommendation - go there. People and quality beer are always the most important things in a good pub.
