The Brunswick, Swansea

I have only recently found this pub, as it was recommended by a friend of mine. It seems a really nice pub, quiet and cosy. The selection of beer is alright, too... however, there wasn't a great selection of ale when I was there last week.

But I will be returning to have more of a proper feel for it...

Westbourne Hotel, Swansea

A really nice pub and very neat and tidy. Got a few guest ales going on, along with other beers such as Peroni, Staropramen and the more common ones to be found.

The location is easy to get to, though a bit more difficult to park a car if you don't know the area (or how to get on the other side of the bollards).

There is also food done at the pub, but I haven't eaten there yet!

The Uplands Tavern, Swansea

Often I visit this pub, which is on the main street through Uplands... near the student houses, Tesco and a couple of shops and useful cash machines!

This is a really good pub for those who like space and gigs! Though there is a corner for the more cosy-seeking customers (named Dylan's Snug, after one of the famous locals who frequented the pub, Dylan Thomas). The choice of real ale is limited: Abbot Ale, Greene King IPA and one guest, which changes each month at times.

However, the place is not very good for phone signal, unless you go outside in the seating area, which can hold quite a few! And for some reason, the live music has gone louder... which sometimes makes it difficult to hear oneself think!

And the owners can be quite forceful on kicking out time. They are very punctual and like to keep it that way. But then... it's their job, pub and licence, after all!

The Rhyddings Hotel, Brynmill

I regularly visit this pub due to its location near the University and student houses. This pub often has 4 different guest ales as well as other beers, and the prices are average for the area. The staff are always friendly and so are the owners.

The food isn't the best of quality, but it does the job, and is served until half past eight (just make sure you correctly read the clock behind the bar).

There are often quiz nights during the week and there is a jukebox, which over the past few weeks, someone always puts on a few Pink Floyd tracks... after all, it is a legendary band!

The outside seating area is small, but space is limited in Brynmill, anyway. It does the job on a nice day. Though during cold weather, it can get cold inside near the door, as it seems that some smokers are born in barns and leave the doors wide open.

During university term times, it can get quite busy, especially during the 6 Nations and quiz nights. Though the place can be really quiet when nothing is going on, which is a shame, really. This pub has a lot of potential to improve.

The Park Inn, Mumbles

A great pub... it's not very often that these pubs are found. One of my ber favourite pubs!

Plenty of real ales to choose from, and it has that real pub atmosphere and aura about it. It has a proper log fire (which was a God send after walking through the streets of Mumbles in the snow), and that cosiness to the place. The customers and the staff are always friendly. The place can also be peaceful, with a couple of quiet conversations going about and the crackling of the fire and I don't think there is a jukebox either (just a single old amplifier on a stool in the corner). The other day, I've only noticed that there is a telly in the corner, but I'm not sure when it's switched on.

There is a seating area outside the back, and a few board games stacked underneath the dartboard. There is an old piano there, too... but I haven't heard it being played yet. There is also a bookshelf with donated books to read.

It can be difficult to find, and it seems one of those places that are only found if you know where it is... or come across it by complete surprise as it blends in almost perfectly with the surrounding houses (apart from a couple of empty beer barrels outside). And they close at 11 every night... even on weekends. But that doesn't put me off going there... I'd arrive earlier in the evening!
