We went on a Saturday night in August and had pre-booked a table which was essential as they were turning customers away. It was full of holiday makers and with their children. The food was ok and the staff work very hard. We will return 'out of season'.

Perfect location and good service and polite staff. There is a limited choice of food but the quality is ok. Big down point when we were there was a group of children using the place as a playground as their mum's drank wine.

Food is good at this pub whose sole fault is that it is an uphill stagger back to our house.

Since moving to the village a year ago my husband and I eat here every week. The food is good pub grub and the welcome is warm and friendly. There is a cosy log fire in the winter and a large garden for the summer rains. My husband can recommend the bakewell sponge and custard.

The Fur and Feathers, Herriard
Unspoilt country pub. Open fires, excellent food and wines. Friendly staff and dog.

The Kings Head, Salisbury
To update our comment from Nov 2008, we have stopped going there after a disastrous Saturday night in July 2010. The kitchen lost it and the food was less than fair and very delayed. No apology to us although a neighbouring table of locals were given a free bottle of wine. We appreciate that problems do occur in catering but the landlord needed to come round personally to apologise.
