terrible place, had a steak ale pie which made me ill for the rest of the day and a pint of flat lager.
won't go back.

Once upon a time I trundled into the Half Moon and ordered a half of bitter, whereupon the man behind the bar said 'I've never seen you order a half before, are you ill?' and I told him that I was trying to have a half in every bar in the city centre in one day (about 30 pubs). He congratulated me and said to let him know how it went, I did so a couple of days later, he gave me a free pint and still chats to me when I go there, which is sadly very rare these days.
An excellent bar with excellent ales, toasties and beer garden.
I really like the oval shaped bar on two levels, makes a real change.

The Shakespeare Tavern, Durham
To everyone who has put bad comments about the Shakey.
This pub used to be great, then the previous landlord (v tall, curly hair, large dog) didn't do so well and there were several occaisions when the beer ran out, was off, or the pub was closed for no particular reason. I did hear a tragic tale about this chap, so I won't go on about him.
Mow with the new landlord the place is fab!
Lovely 80bob, excellent guinness, a real turn around, well done landlord.

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Fleet Street
I love this pub, one of my favorites in London.
As Old Brewery Bitter is my favorite beer I am nearly always happy in a Sam Smiths pub, I particularly like the German Beer Hall effect in the very bottom room and the lovely little wooden booths.
The staff are always quick and usually friendly too.
I also like that the menu is designed for hungry people who have had one too many beers before their dinners! onion rings are brilliant and the chips are like the ones my Granny used to make.
Brilliant!
