It's no surprise it has closed down. The surprise is that it lasted so long. I was in the first night they took over and I said they would be bankrupt in 6 months. It took nearly 3 years to kill it which shows just how strong it was in the first place.
The landlady (originally ladies) have no idea what a good pub is let alone how to run one.
The closure has been blamed on the recession, but it is more to do with the competence of the owner. This pub was a gold mine when they took it over and could be again.
Hopefully it will go to auction. There are a few people expressing an interest if it does.

Lovely hot day. I thought I'd pop along here for a lunchtime pint, but even though it is the middle of May, they are still doing the "winter opening hours".
I.e. they don't bother opening 'till 4PM.
This really is a very pale imitation of the pub it used to be when Biddy ran it.
Come back Biddy! In fact come back everybody! Where are you all now?

The Elephant and Castle, Eyke
This pub has been closed for two months and there i8s still an a board in the street stating that Saturday is free pool night.
That is indicative of the levels of professionalism and laziness that has been experienced over the last couple of years.
