Coach and Horses, Wellingborough
Fantastic Real Ale pub. Great selection of beers from a variety of breweries. I went in the day and had a couple of quiet pints - I don't know what it is like in the evening but the quality of the ale is no doubt guaranteed.
Another gem of a pub in the county to go alonside the Alexandra Arms in Kettering and Malt Shovel in Northampton.

A very good pub - not the place to go if you want a quiet night as there is often a band playing - a good range of ales, and the variety of single malts is very impressive.
The Malt Shovel is just down the road, so why not visit both and be ensured of a good night.

Fantastic Pub. Great range of ales, fantastic atmosphere and friendly staff.
Certainly the best pub in Northampton.

Only been in this pub once while on a trip to the city.
I really enjoyed my visit, the ale was excellent with a moderate selection, staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was good.
I will definately go back there if I return to Nottingham.

The Locomotive, Wellingborough
I had always heard about the Locomotive as a Real Ale haven but had never been in - despite living in the county for years.
Finally took the plunge and visited it and was very impressed. Great selection off ales on offer, all top quality and well kept.
The atmosphere was fantastic, staff and regulars very friendly and a good time was had.
The decor is a bit eccentric - movie props, trains etc - but that is what makes it a good place to be.
For me it comes second in the "best real ale pubs in Northamptonshire", the Alexandra Arms in Kettering being the first.

The Earl of Dalkeith, Kettering
Bog standard Wetherspoons pub, cheap but there are better pubs in the town. Strange assortment of characters - bookies runners, tobacco sellers, the trenchcoat brigade.

Friendly village pub, a couple of ales on offer (it is a Greene King pub) with a great cast of characters.
A good time to visit is the Sunday before Christmas when hordes of Morris dancers descend on the car park to dance and then flood into the bar where live folk music goes on until closing time - great atmosphere.

THE best pub in Kettering - no contest.
Fantastic range of ales (10 during the week and 14 at the weekend) all in top condition and from all over the country.
The cellar is home to J Chruch Brewery whose brews are available in the pub.
Great decor - pump clips covering most of the walls, a paradise for real ale fans.
Watch out for George the pub dog, he is so small you may sit on him.

A nice, clean, village pub, although totally devoid of atmosphere.
The Queen's Arms is saved by having 6 Real Ales on offer, all of which are always in top condition.
Food is available but having only been drinking there I cannot comment on the food.
For the more adventurous drinker there is a seperate games room with darts, pool and fruit machines.
Not a pub to have a riotous night out in but a nice place to ponder the universe over a couple of pints of quality ales.

The Ship and Castle, Aberystwyth
Managed to track this little pub down - tucked away along a back street behind the castle (also near to a fantatstic bookshop). A small but varied selection of Real Ales and a friendly landlord. There were a few regulars there all of a variety of ages but very welcoming.
Great painting of a ship sailing by the castle can be found in the bar at the bottom.
Had a really nice stout while there. Would recommend this pub to any real ale fans who find themselves in this part opf Wales.
