Yes, this is being leased out as a Marstons tenancy. John, the current landlord is very keen to take it on, so hopefully, it should continue to be business as usual.

Loving this place more and more.
* New landlord is an Everton fan - cool.
* Always bump into another friendly local whenever I'm in (quite often at the mo).
* Excellent selection of beverages (I usually stick to the Zywiec)
* Cool eccentric and very amiable staff and punters!
* Can always chill and read the paper at the end of the bar when I need my space (and 'hair of the dog')!
I'll be in tonight!! As usual!

Am visiting this establishment tonight for drinks and canopes etc. so should be able to let you know my verdict tomorrow. Have never been before - but from the literature I have, it seems to be the same format as the Minnow in Weybridge (didn't know they were a chain!).

But seriously - for a better Vintage experience; go to the Thames Court or Kingfisher. (Even cuter Barmen and maids - and much better service to boot)

Sorry vandal31, but, although some of your points are valid; the most pertinent ones are certainly falsehoods.
You will not find any under 18's in this bar. In compliance with recent law changes and the fact that individual landlords can be excessively fined, anyone who looks under 21 (including my 27 year old ex partner for example) gets ID'd - BIG TIME !
Granted - you get your shave of chavs; but with the Dukes Head having closed and the Plough intermittently shut, and the old Sports bar gone - they have to go somewhere. And as long as they are well behaved - which is usuually the case at the insistance of the management - then all is okay.
Table cleaning and lack of staff is an unfortunate consequence of JDW shareholders wanting to see good profits an margins - this is forced upon the individual pub managers who can only do the best with the resources they are allowed.

You obviously don't know the pub that well - there are no "16 - 17 year old staff-members". I'd like to know who you think is this age, and shall gladly correct you. This is "Factual Innacuracy".
