The Lion Hotel & Restaurant, Belper
Much improved. 4 or 5 real ales on, seperate pizza restaurant and they ofter have music in the courtyard on sunny Sundays.

Tiny micro pub with a great range of beers and ciders. Only seats around 25 inside and 6 outside so may not suit large groups. Excellent addition to the Belper beer scene.

Arkwrights Real Ale Bar, Belper
Small one room bar. Good choice of real ale and ciders. Not tonnes of character but always clean and welcoming.

Brewdog Nottingham, Nottingham
Nice inside, busy but many of the beers are undrinkable.

Right up there with the top pubs in Derbyshire.
Good selection of well kept beers at reasonable prices in a clean, friendly pub.
All sounds good, but not outstanding, right?
What makes this pub exceptional is the weekend only Bedlam Bar. I won't give you any details, it would spoil your delight at finding it.

North Riding Hotel, Scarborough
Good rang of beers at exceptional prices. Very different rooms, with a busy bar that has a pool table and sky sports. Quiet comfortable lounge.

Little Chester Ale House, Derby
Tiny pub with a big heart. Good range of beers, which are well kept. Only has room for around 20 customers. Try to be one of them.

Things have improved loads. Good range of well kept beers and excellent pork pies.

4 decent real ales and the sunday carvery is excellent. Slightly odd layout, but 2nd best pub for beer in the village

The Churchill Hotel, Ambleside
7 TV's, 3 real ales and comfy seating. If you in Ambleside and want to watch a game, come here. If you, don't, try another pub. 6/10

The Laurel Inn, Robin Hood's Bay
I agree the best Peculier in the world. Sit outside and watch people struggle up the hill with their kids.Great entertainment.

Great pub with good food and beer. In the middle of nowhere by car but walks everywhere around.

A tiny pub, with 2 small rooms and a sweet shop. A beer garden to one side, the river to the other. The best place to sit is outside the front door, watching the world go by. Home made bread and great pies and scones.
Quite simply the best pub in the world.

Good beer and food, great garden only let down by interior. Great summer pub though to rest at between the Holly Bush and the Dead Poets

The Three Stags Heads, Wardlow Mires
Mad pub, more dogs than customers other than Saturday nights. A must visit if in the area. Get someone else to drive though.
8 Dec 2004 19:45
Great little boozer, can get crowded inside when too cold for the patio. Rare example of West Yorkshire drinking corridor in a Derbyshire pub
8 Dec 2004 19:43
The place to start a session in Derby, good cheap beer, not too smoky and loads of space to find your mates. Gets very busy after 8.30 at weekends
8 Dec 2004 19:41
The Monsal Head Hotel, Monsal Head
Good range of beers, including German bottled beers, the food is excellent and the viewsare fantastic. The only drawback is its hardto get a table indoors at the weekend. Though the hotel itself is very pleasant, often less busy and has the same menu/beers.

Great beers, pork pies, staff, interior and a table football game. Nice walk to Holbrook and its pubs (take path opposite and turn left when you reach the road)
8 Dec 2004 19:34
Full of character, good beer, decent food, great pub to sit outside on a summers evening
8 Dec 2004 19:32
Wide choice of beers, though too many pale beers. The quality is very occasionally lacking. A good place to start the night though, always find a seat.

The Derby Tup, Whittington Moor
A straightforward beer drinkers pub with great choice.
8 Dec 2004 19:27

8 Dec 2004 19:26
Good beer, too quiet midweek, no smoking room, excellent value sunday lunch, hairy bar staff (the male ones)
8 Dec 2004 19:25
Another traditional beer drinkers pub near the alex. Nicer interior, but always seemed full or nearly empty. Good range of beers
8 Dec 2004 19:22

George and Dragon, Belper
Good music venue at the weekend and has sky sports and roaring fires. Decent range of real ales, Sells great pork pies too. Would be a 9 if the beer was consistently well kept but the beer quality is patchy so it's a 7.
