The Villagers Inn, Blackheath

It's a bit odd, isn't it? You just come along and make a positive comment about a pub you like, and all of a sudden people start having a go at you. Makes you wonder if there's some other agenda, doesn't it? I just go there for a drink and I like the place. Is this a place for talking about pubs or slagging off your fellow customers? Get reasonable.

The George Abbot, Guildford

This is one of those town pubs that takes a while to get to know. Luckily, with train cancellations, the proximity to the station provides opportunities to know it better. Forget the Greene King logos all over the outside: this is where to find a pint of Hog's Back Brewery TEA. Unlike the White House across the road, the food is well cooked, reasonably priced, and the portions don't leave you running to MacDonalds afterwards...

Is it Ok to contribute to this site if you only use a couple of local pubs and want to comment on them, or should any newcomer contributing to this site expect to be challenged by people like "Beersupper". If you say something good about a place (as Beersupper himself did about this place once - a year ago) does that make you wrong? Just stick to the pubs, don't make it personal if your view is different, Beersupper. Don't be arrogant.

There are usually several drinkable real ales to choose from, and that's what I look for. Particularly the local Shere Drop - a lovely pint. This is a food pub, and although I haven't eaten here it is obvious that people come from far and wide; and I've continually heard people making good comments about the food. A nice, homely and welcoming local pub. (A good contrast to the Percy Arms down the road, which has no atmosphere at all.)

Pub, Chilworth

I went into this place on my own at 8 o'clock one evening - starving after a long journey - and wanted to eat. They said I couldn't have a a table for three quarters of an hour. Less than two minutes later a group of four people who looked like they had money to spend asked if they could eat and a table was made up for them straight away. This place is only interested in processing credit cards. The beer is boring Greene King served in industrial quantities. Go to the homely Villagers pub up the road in Blackheath!
