Crows Nest, Newcastle

Decent student pub. Good location. Pretty cheap drinks and the food is ok. Good for sport (especially if you're a Liverpool fan, weirdly). The toilets are pretty rank though.

The Goose at the Gardens, Newcastle

The Goose has two things going for it: good location (especially is you're doing the top end of town, Hancock, Crow's Nest crawl) and it's cheap as you like (e.g doubles for two quid, �1.20 a Carlsberg). Apart from that it's about as generic as any Weatherspoons pub. Food is typically cheap and cheerful, always rammed at the weekend when it attracts an older crowd and the bar staff aren't particularly helpful either.

The Cage Bar, Newcastle

Went here a while back with mates. Like many other bars along the Bigg Market, this is sleaze central. If you're between the age of 15 and 20 and a chav then this may be your ideal haven. If not, run for those proverbial hills, as Iron Maiden once said.
