Wheatsheaf, Southwark

I love this place. Danny and the team run a great pub, and the interior is absolutely fantastic.

The upgraded menu is top stuff for not as much as it might be, good wine list and whilst some of the beers are a little cold, they seem to be well kept.

My only issue is over the guinness - it seems to have been a little thin since the new place opened. Don't know if I'm the only person who drinks it, and don't know what the fix is - although it could be something is up with the gas system.

Simple solution for me though - switch to light and bitter. Danny's even got the staff trained how to pour the "greedy man's pint" properly.

Please keep up the great work guys - even better if you can fix the black stuff.

The Wheatsheaf, Borough

I heard a rumour last night that Danny and the Red Car Pub Co had found a new site in the area!!!

Please god let it be true.

I will never forgive whomever made the decision to build that railway. As has been said many times in there before the closing and in the RIP book, pubs become far more than just a room with beer. The sheaf was very important to a lot of people - We want our pub back!

The Dog and Bull, Croydon

Great trad youngs boozer. Good quality beer and the only place I've found Xmas pud ale this winter.

Great place for watching sport as well if you get there in time - atmospheric, knowlegeable and amusingly drunken.

The Lamb Tavern, Leadenhall Market

A great City boozer that is exactly that. This is not a wine bar. This is not an All Bar One. This is a pub where anyone - men or women - come during and after work to have a few beers and let the tension of being a trader / underwriter / broker / journo / PR etc drain out of them.

That it does food is inconsequential. Good Guinness, decent Youngs ordinary and a special atmosphere.

Particularly "up" around Christmas, good place for a long lunch.
