The Old Bell, Fleet Street

Good selection of beers and a nice, snug layout. Food is good value, but portion size a bit small!

The Seven Stars, Chancery Lane

Nice, snug pub in a great location with a funky interior. Landlady didn't seem too impressed when I moaned that it was 6 for the cigarette machine, but then it's her pub and I was perfectly drunk at this point. Am going back soon.

Ye Old Mitre, Holborn

More fun in the bars down Kingsway?! If that's your attitude, then please stay down there. In the meantime, I'll keep nipping here for a pint in one of London's best pub. Handily placed for a good crawl too if only it was open on Saturdays!

The Thornbury Castle, Marylebone

A great pub with a superb collection of games and friendly atmos. Far better than the Marylebone Kicthen just down the road.

The Prince Regent, Herne Hill

Before the new management, the Prince Regent was a cracking local with two pool tables, footy/cricket on the TV and a great jukebox. Now it's an upmarket gastropub I'm not so keen. The location is still great (opposite the park), the food is fantastic, and the quiz night is good fun, but it's not really the sort of place where you can just sit and drink anymore. The Al Murray barman is just rude, not funny (he once refused to make a hot chocolate because it was 'too much hassle', even though it's on the menu), and on the weekends it's so full of young families that you can't get a table you have to book in advance. Still, on the pavement tables is the best place to be come Summer in Herne Hill.

The Cittie of Yorke, Holborn

A great Sam Smith's pub with a lot of character. Couldn't use the dartboard, though, as someone was sitting in front of it. Went as part of a pub crawl, so didn't get to spend too much time there!
