I would usually avoid pubs such as this but despite the high prices, which are predictable in this area, I had a very enjoyable time here. The day was sunny, which probably helped, and the location was beautiful. I didn't try the food but it looked and smelt very tempting. I hope to return in future. Maybe it is best to only visit in the summer.

It is a nice pub witha reasonable nselection of drinks. Good for a lively night out but it is slightly average. Good events on but there are pubs in the town that can do far better. Very friendly bar staff.

I do really enjoy this pub, it is similar to other pubs such as The Walnout Treea nd The Rifle Volunteers in that it has very much kept itself to itself. A quality selection of Ale and a very palletable Cider as well as a very pleasant land lord make this a nice pub for a quiet drink. I would very much recommend the Sunday night quiz.

The Rifle Volunteers, Maidstone
This is a great retreat. Whenever you walk in you feel incredibly self concious that perhaps you aren't quite good enough for such a exclusive pub. The fact there is very often no one there is a blessing and I hope it somehow stays liek this whilst staying in business. The goachers, whilst not my favourite of ales, is kept well and complements the interior nicely. 'Alan' reminds me of Uma Thurmans trainer in Kill Bill. Rarely does he speak or move but quite clearly he is a master of the old game.

There is a hell of a lot of potential here and under new mangement I hope it can flourish. As a previous employee of the establishment I think the criticism is quite harsh as the landlord in particular was very pleasant and dealt with complaints incredibly well. The garden is brilliant, despite this being a local I had never really noticed the potential before.

The arse hole of Maidstone. The majority of people that occupy this joint are paedophiles, perverts or freaks of some other kind. There are a few very friendly locals. It is jsut terrible.

I would say this is Maidstone's best pub and looks set to stay like that. A great atmosphere which does well to deter Maidstone's overwhelming population of scum. It has a good selection of ciders but could perhaps include more on the ale front. The choice at the moment, however limited, is certainly good standard. Great music and friendly staff. It is good to see the change of mangement hasn't effected the pub.

This place is a diabolical dive of a pub. Set in what I can only describe as an industrial tip it resembles something out of snatch with a strange mix of clientele. The pub's only redeeming factor would of been it's home brew. Unfortunately it is the worlds only home brewed lager and tastes just like a pint of 70% water and 30% fosters would.

The Old House, Ightham
Only recently discovered this pub, thanks to working near by/my dad taking me. It is brilliant, great selection of ale and wine, the opening times add to the atmosphere; he land lord effectively opens for his friends. Definitely worth a visit.
