One of the worst pubs I've ever frequented. The landlady has the customer skills of Genghis Khan. Actually that's being unfair to Genghis...

Things have not improved with very few punters frequenting the joint. They won't be able to maintain business at this rate...

Apparently Tesco have bought the site and this pub is soon to be a goner. No real loss judging by their (lack of) real ale selection.

Quite easily one of the worst pubs in Reading. The landlord appears to be running the place into the ground with toilets barely functional and beer often off. Avoid.

Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, Arnside
I have to agree with the comments below; the hygiene in this establishment leaves something to be desired. A cleaner ideally.

A very poor selection of ales and trumped up prices. The fact it's located in Oxford Road; the third world resembling crime capital of Reading doesn't help either.

Following my earlier review and the arrival of new management things sadly haven't improved. Food takes an age to arrive and arrives cold and the staff in general are bordering on open hostility to non-regulars. Needless to say we won't be returning.

I see very little amusing about Harding's flatulence. My good lady wife was recently served by the fellow only to bear witness to the swine nudging his colleague then batting out a sly one to the merriment of all. Behind bar that is! The sooner his area manager has a word in his whiffy shell-like the better!

Sterile and characterless; unfortunately the exact kind of gastro establishment that the multi-cultural slum known as Reading is full of.

Unfortunately the always very good 'spoons beer prices are ruined by very rude staff members. Of special note is the barmaid Jess who seems to delight in making customers feel most unwelcome. I've generally felt very comfortable in all 'spoons establishments but alongside The Bear in Maidenhead this has to be one of the worst for customer service.

Fortunately this pub is about to be given an upgrade to a more family orientated eating establishment. The spit and sawdust approach isn't pulling the customers in and it's really been a local's only venue these last few years. Time for a change methinks.

The Lyndhurst, Reading
They've re-opened but there is still a distinct aroma of body odour in the air; probably the Polish locals who flood the place.
