The Fox and Hounds, Belgravia

This is definitely a locals pub, but be patient. They are quite an interesting group, and after my second visit, I was very warmly welcomed. The locals are a varied group of professional types, Chelsea Pensioners (bless them), and musicians, and you are guaranteed an interesting conversation. Good lunch menu, but food is only served between 1230 and 0230. Not a beer expert (cider is my drink), but there is a nice variety of wine and the interior is very nice. Well worth a visit.

The Devereux, Temple

Didn't try the food, but the service as very friendly and the atmosophere was lively and fun. There is a large no-smoking area. Will return.

The Old Bank of England, Fleet Street

Very grand and ornate interior, although the exterior is shrouded in scaffolding at this time. Friendly staff, crowded with suits, but lots of room for all. Worth a visit.

The Rising Sun, Smithfield

We really enjoyed this pub. Friendly host and customers, nice fire on a cold night, and excellent value. Draft cider, good beer, no complaints. Not at all "grotty" or unfriendly.
