Most interesting thing about this pub is that it is used as a recurrent setting in Robert Lewis' novel The Last Llanelli Train. A great book detailing the alcoholic adventures of a private eye in our fair city. Probably one of the best ever reads dedicated to a boozehound. (Although his next novel, Swansea Terminal, is bleaker & further down the darkened track.)
I doubt many people who visit would recognise its footnote contribution to excellent contemporary literature but there you go.
The pub itself is middle ground Bemmy fare. Prefcaced a few Easyjet city trips in here with a swift one prior to the Flyer coach.

Unpretentious boozer unaffected by the gentrification of the Hotwells/harbourside area. Cheap, unsalubrious but bluffly welcoming & they sell cider in a can, City fans. Great place for drinking, not schmoozing.

Assembly, Bedminster
Probably the best pub in the East St end of Bemmy, athough this a title not currently difficult to hold. It's clean and friendly and modern & the food - if you're so inclined - beats Wetherspoons by a fair margin. (A more expensive microwave?) Good for footie too - I may find myself in there tomorrow for City vs Cardiff.
