The Anglesea Arms, Hammersmith

It's small so it can be hard to get a table and the service is often dire, but the food is absolutely superb.

The Grove, Hammersmith

My boyfriend and I hit The Grove regularly for dinner and are never dissapointed by the menu, service or food. I am a particularly big fan of their tiramisu!

While the meals can be a bit pricier, of all the pubs in the Hammersmith/ Shepherds Bush area this is by far my favourite in terms of consistently high quality food and serivce.

The Dartmouth Castle, Hammersmith

I was excited by the idea of another gastropub in the area. However, a Sunday evening visit left me extremely disappointed.

The service was poor and the starter came at the same time as the mains. In addition, my roast salmon was completely inedible - moderately warm and the texture of wet cardboard. The puy lentil salad that came with it was lovely, but after paying �14 for the main, I was completely dissatisfied.

My advice: if you want a great gastropub in the area try The Grove or The Anglesea. Both are consistently top notch.
