I like this pub, and although it has changed owners over the years it hasn't lost sight of its core strengths and its punters. Watched sport here, bands here and just gone for a quiet pint. Nice locals and staff. Good guiness and now started keeping a couple of reasonable real ales (the Green King IPA used to be rubbish). Would fully recommend a visit.

If I commuted by train I would pop into this pub for a pint every night. But I don't, and I don't. There is nothing wrong with the pub at all, it is a good honest pub with decent beer, and little bit spit and sawdust but don't let that put you off. Landlord and lady are realy pleasant and will take time to stop for a chat. Never seems too busy.

This used to be an excellent pub. Recently refurbishly and done really nicely. What a pity they have hiked the prices, reduced the range of beers, and the new owners don't have the abilty to manage the cellar or be gracious to the clients. Coming soon - shots and lager louts. I like the musc that the pub plays but it is so loud you need to shout to hold a conversation. Oh - and did I mention the new owners ..... if you want to pay over the odds for poor beer and worse service, you couldn't do much better than this.

Proper honest pub with great beers. Not many pubs sell dark mild these days. Good food, with cheese board and pork pies sold until closing time. Will drink here more often after the destruction of the Sunrunner.

Evertime I have been here, I have had a good time. Little bit run-down and loos are pretty basic. Beer always good.

Good locals pub, with one room set aside for sport. Can be busy on big Rugby and Football occassions. Like the food here, all freshly prepared, but kitchin is not open all day and not Fri/Sat evenings. Beer is always excellent, the landlord keeps a good cellar. Reasonably priced for a town centre pub.

Big pub with which, for many years, McMullens have tried to establish as a "food" "pub" and have consistantly failed to do either. The food is ok and we do eat there, and the beer is good but occassionally you get a wrong-un. Clients are rather uncolourful. Service can vary from excellent to dehydrating (waiting to be served). You know - it's ok but doesn't set the River Purwell on fire.
