Timothy Taylor is excellent but both the beer and food prices and quite high.
Save your money and go to the Lime Tree Restaurant round the corner!

The Briton's Protection Hotel, Castlefield
One of the best 'pubs' in Manchester!
Beer range is great and it is difficult to have a bad pint and is just up from the Peveril, so makes a good starting point for a crawl around Castlefield

The Peveril Of The Peak, Castlefield
Great beer, excellent venue and the clientele are an 'interesting' mix, but very friendly

Used to have the excellent JOhn Smiths Magnet ale on, kept very well, the bottled largers are also good, but the highlight has to be the Jukebox!

Mr Thomas' Chop House, Manchester
Have to agree with lots of the comments, was much better when it only served food during the day, less of a drinkers pub and although the corn beef hash is excellent, it should be to 11.00
But the most annoying factor is that it used to do and excellent pint of Taylors Landlord and that has now disappeared

Very smokey but the beer is fantastic, often have black sheep and some very good summer ales, but on a hot day the Weston Press cider is defo the one to go for.

Excellent pub with a great choice of ales and some very good home cooked food.
The discretionary 'Over 25's Only' is intelligently applied, and this makes it a much nicer place.
The veggie bean burgers are excellent

If you have a perchant for nice local pubs selling good VFM food and excellent beers from a selection of local micro-breweries or respected larger brewers then you must give this dump a big swerve.
However, if its a haven for chavs and lager louts your after, then i think you may have just found the mother ship!
Would avoid like a plagu
