Visited again on Saturday 10th April. All I can say is Dirty Dirty Dirty, if only they could clean the carpets and tables.

Not a bad pub really, I stayed about a mile away and visited the pub twice. I seriously did not expect a lot as it was serving relatively cheap beer and cheap food, I think it was trying to be a Wetherspoons type place.
The Ruddles County was excellent and the staff were friendly too.
The food was OK ( I mean what do you expect for the price) but it was twice as good as Wetherspoons.
Only eccentric point, I ordered a starter and a main meal and both arrived at the same time, not good at all, but the meal was quite good. I would still prefer to eat here than the at Wethespoons down the road at Cheadle Hulme !!!!

Can only agree with what has been said about this pub, the real ales are always of excellent quality. However thee is more Stuart the landlord is starting his own micro brewery in the cellar and should be brewing shortly after Christmas if not before.
Knowing his commitment to beer quality I am sure he will be producing some beer to savour!!!!

Regarding the food at this pub I think you will observe that there were very many good reviews up until the end of 2009. I can concur with this as we had quite a few meals here until about April 2010. Then for some reason the chef was changed, and now the food is dreadful!!! Don't think about eating here until they acquire a new chef. IMHO.

Just had a meal here tonight (13 Oct 2010) The food is lousy microwaved rubbish, with so much of the menu unavailable. The chef here deserves to be shot!!!! The Speckled hen was quite nice though. But whatever you do don't eat here until they get a decent chef.

This pub is in a great location with a good range of beers, though rather pricey.
Unfortunately the tables are very dirty and never cleaned by staff. If you put your elbows on the tables chances are you will stick to it! Still OK to drink in but eat there at your peril.

The Royal Oak Hotel, Settle
Pleasant pub inside with friendly staff. Unfortunately the beer is weak, bland, isipid rubbish. All Theakston type beers with no flavour at all. Pub itself is fine but they should really get some decent beer in!
