I was going to post a review of this pub but I think the previous four reviews tell you all you need to know about the people (term used loosely) who frequent this place. Unless you're a filmmaker making a documentary about the underclass, give the place a very wide berth - about as wide as the distance a beer bottle can fly.

Hasn't anyone told you, plastic-Irish pubs are SO 1990s! A hole of a place, no redeeming features at all and full of thick socially challenged pond-life.

The William Camden, Bexleyheath
A pub full of neanderthals, if that's not too disrespectful to our ape-like ancestors. Fine for a game of pool unless you win, in which case you're likely to leave with a pool cue rammed up your posterior by one of the friendly regulars. A place which any decent human being would wish to be vaporised, preferably while it's packed full of the regulars.

Morgan's Wine and Ale House, Bexleyheath
Don't take notice of the previous two reviews - they're fake and are posted by staff. Why would my message pointing that out be taken down otherwise? This place is an absolute dump - soulless and full of people you would do anything to ignore elsewhere. Don't even consider it - you'll wish you hadn't.

The Pickhurst Tavern, West Wickham
This isn't a pub, it's a restaurant with an attached children's playground which happens to sell alcohol. The beer "range" is the usual, predictable mass-produced rubbish. The beer garden is lovely - what a shame the only time you can enjoy it in peace is in the pouring rain. A large pub with so much potential - and it wastes it all.
1 Mar 2007 13:59
Utterly formulaic, bar-by-numbers. No soul at all and overpriced like all Slugs. Impossible to hold a conversation when crowded due to the bar being one open cavern. As inspiring as watching paint dry and as comfortable as holding onto a full bladder.
1 Mar 2007 13:52
Sadly I can confirm that this pub hasn't yet met a well-deserved demise. Full of chavs playing pool, swearing loudly over the crap blaring music and drinking chavvy lager. Please - can we have just one decent pub at the south end of Bromley rather than all chavvy fight venues?
1 Mar 2007 13:48
Another month down, the boycott is holding as firm as ever. An increasing sign of desperation from GK is that they have been caught bussing employees in from other pubs to pose as customers, trying to pretend the pub isn't desolate. Thank you GK for the encouragement - everything the sad marketing suits come up with in Bury strengthens the boycott. Choose your date of defeat.
1 Mar 2007 13:36
Not sure about this place at all. The atmosphere and beer can be good, but the bar staff have to be some of the worst in Lewes - unfriendly and evidently care very little for the customer. Sometimes a few of the punters are well worth steering clear of too. Come on Harvey's, this could be a good place with some extra care.

Wetherspoons, Victoria Station
Like all Wetherspoon's pubs, has gone to the dogs in the past few years. Mucky, smoky and small to the point of being claustrophobic. I would recommend sitting outside it for amusement purposes though - watching the alcoholic sad husbands putting off going home to the wife is entertainment. Otherwise if you need a drink, you're better off going to the offy and having a can on the train home.
19 Feb 2007 13:55
It looks like the management of this place didn't like me pointing out it was a Greene King pub and thus telling people not to go there. Fine - I'll just suggest people shouldn't go here as the beers are average at best and there is no atmosphere at all.
14 Feb 2007 13:17
The New Cross Turnpike, Welling
Well I've seen it all now. Came in here for a quick couple on Saturday. What is that bizarre electronic sign at the end of the bar? Why, it's telling me how cold the cask beer is! Please Wetherspoons - you should be ashamed of such a crass marketing gimmick. Do you really, sincerely, think that's the thing that punters care most about? If you do, you're in the wrong industry.
14 Feb 2007 13:13
How many more messages of mine are going to be removed about this place? This one does not breach the guidelines so whoever is trying to hide the truth about this establishment - you can run, but you can't hide.
The place has bouncers even on a Sunday night. Make of that what you will. Young teenagers can often be glimpsed leaving the pub who are barely able to stand up. Make of that what you will. A sign outside proudly proclaims how cold its lager is. Make of that what you will.
In the words of Frank Drebben of Police Squad - the truth hurts doesn't it? Maybe not as much as jumping on a bike with its saddle missing, but it hurts!
8 Feb 2007 13:51
What is going on with BITE? More reviews removed from this pub too. For the public service, I would like to confirm (again) that lady_bird is an imposter - a staff member pretending to be a punter, desperately trying to talk up a crap pub. Ask yourself why you would need to do this and you'll come to the correct conclusion - this pub is awful. Avoid.
22 Jan 2007 13:35
Why have all but one of the reviews accurately portraying the clientele as young thugs, cheap tarts or paedophiles got pulled? A temporary technical fault I hope - people need to know to avoid this place unless you fall into one of the three aforementioned categories.
8 Jan 2007 13:54
Just to let all those interested that the boycott of the pub is going very well - it is virtually empty all of the time and the amount of money Greene King must have lost over Christmas due to their corporate fascism must be huge. I wonder if the CEO Rooney Anand will begin to see sense now that the only thing he cares about, revenue, is plummeting?
28 Dec 2006 14:22
I would just like to add that anyone reading this page who cares about real ale should pass on the details of Greene King's actions to everyone they know who also cares about real ale. I would encourage all of you to boycott this pub, all Greene King pubs and all Greene King products on sale in other pubs and off-licences. The products to boycott are Abbot Ale, Greene King IPA and other Greene King occasional beers, Old Speckled Hen, Ruddles, Strong Suffolk Vintage, Hen's Tooth and old Ridley's beers. The branded pubs to boycott are Old English Inns, Hungry Horse pubs and Belhaven Pubs in Scotland. Greene King's demolition of local brewing tradition and historic breweries cannot go unchecked.
13 Dec 2006 12:14
My God, this place is full of the rudest, up-their-own-arses tossers I've ever had the misfortune to share a space with. The booze could be free in here and you'd still never want to enter the place again. There's no possible way you won't have an absolute tosser within a foot of you as the place is horribly packed. Unless you are obsessed with yourself and thoroughly objectionable in every way, don't even get near the place!
6 Dec 2006 13:44
I hear Greene King has recently taken this pub over. They'll have a tough job of following their company policy of ruining every pub they take over with this place - how do you make it worse?
28 Nov 2006 13:48
And what's wrong with that? Sounds good to me! I must visit soon and have fun working out which girls are the straight ones!
16 Nov 2006 14:23
Trickywooster, if you're a shift manager I would suggest you start by learning what a "real ale" is. Addlestones as you point out is a cider - which is not an ale, real or otherwise. I suspect the Tetley is "smoothflow", which is not a real ale - it is a sub-standard bitter. That leaves four real ales according to you. When I last took a look in, you had ONE real ale on. On my previous visit, you had NONE. Looks like you'll need to find another main selling point.

The Botley Hill Farmhouse, Warlingham
I really don't know what to make of this pub. I think the experience varies from ghastly to enjoyable depending on which day of the week you go and whether you choose to eat or not. It seems to attract a varied selection of irritating punters - some of them middle-class urban types with over-inflated opinions of themselves who think everyone wants to hear about their utterly boring lives and children; some of them drunken geezers who want to go to a country pub in the sun, "innit". In my opinion the food is good, albeit overpriced, but don't even think about eating here on a Sunday lunchtime unless you're willing to wait all afternoon for your food. The beer is usually good - the pub was one of the first to take the Westerham beers when they started brewing. In summary, you can have a good time here, but the pub as well as some of its punters has an over-inflated opinion of itself.
9 Nov 2006 14:17
Bring back The Iron Horse and the bikers! What a pity a pub with such character became such a formulaic place. But it fits well in Sidcup as there isn't one pub worth visiting any longer. Sidcup must be the most boring place in SE London.
26 Oct 2006 13:52
The New Cross Turnpike, Welling
Went here on Saturday. What is going on in the cellar?! What is the point in having a beer festival with numerous real ales on if they're all served too bloody cold and the different tastes are completely killed? I had to warm my pint for ten minutes with my hands before it even approached the correct temperature for an ale. Come on manager, get your act together and show you know something about real ale!
23 Oct 2006 14:16
The George & Dragon, Westerham
This is a good traditional pub with a welcoming interior. However I don't think much of the beer range at all - the usual stuff you see everywhere. The food though is excellent - the Sunday roast in particular is very generous in size and the beef is superb. The staff are friendly too. I recommend the pub if you plan to eat, if you want just to drink, go to The Grasshopper.
10 Oct 2006 14:26
The Grasshopper on the Green, Westerham
A good pub which serves a cracking pint of Harvey's. Lovely in both the summer and winter - a big beer garden overlooking the North Downs and church for the former, a lovely fire in an intimate bar for the latter. I only wish the regulars at the bar would make some effort to move slightly when people come up to order!
10 Oct 2006 14:20
I've been in this place and apart from the slow service, it was good compared to the usual Lloyds and had a lower chav count certainly. In response to David14, Wetherspoons have totally lost their way - their one priority seems to be make as much money as possible and if they can do that by selling the site, to hell with the punters. They gave up actually caring about their customers several years ago.
10 Oct 2006 14:15
I have just had the misfortune to go for lunch here because my friend was meeting someone else. Haven't been there for nearly a year because of the simply appalling service. It has actually got worse! A Tuesday lunchtime, three staff to deal with taking orders and taking the food to punters. One member of staff who took every opportunity to talk for minutes at a time when collecting plates. Another member of staff who couldn't remember the order three people who arrived at the bar were in, resulting in a chinless idiot and mates getting served first, taking nearly ten minutes to decide on what food and drinks they were getting. Don't serve them unless they've looked at the menu first or come back to them! Absolutely hopeless. I will never set foot in this place again.
19 Sep 2006 14:35
I feel compelled to review this place as it could be one of the best Wetherspoons with just a little effort. I am not a Wetherspoons fan at all but have enjoyed the several visits I have made here - principally because it serves two or more real ciders straight from the container! The atmosphere is better than almost all Wetherspoons - even in the evening the chav count is tolerable. What desperately lets this pub down is the service. All previous comments about the service are true. I was once waiting with about five other people when one of the girls became confused with the till. What happened? The remaining two girls stopped serving customers and the three of them gathered round the till and served no-one for at least three minutes, utterly ignoring several of us pleading politely for a pint. On the plus side, the manager asked a table of drunken Essex meatheads to leave when every other shouted word was f*ck and every passing female received assinine comments. Come on Wetherspoons - sort out the staff and this pub can be great!
13 Sep 2006 14:09
What a fabulous pub The Village is. The thing that always strikes me about it is it never takes more than a couple of minutes to strike up conversation with a regular, even if you make no effort! The range of beer clips has me salivating as soon as I'm through the door and I've never had anything other than a perfectly-kept pint here. Once there I don't want to leave. Simply a great place for conversation and ale. If you like those two things and are ever near Salisbury, don't miss out!
13 Sep 2006 13:55
Another Canary Wharf bar with simply ludicrous prices, but this place is the most ludicrous of the lot! No decent beer on draught, had two half-pint bottles of I believe Landlord in here once which worked out to 6 a pint!! Often has a chinless DJ which no-one takes an interest in. The place is full of apprentice tossers, learning their trade before they become fully-fledged tossers and move on to Bar 38. I'd rather drink out of the dock than in here.

The Battle of Trafalgar, Brighton
This pub is well worth a visit. A short (downhill) stagger to Brighton station, it is traditional, unpretentious and relaxing. Well kept ale and real cider. It has the qualities that make a traditional place the place to chill out.
8 Sep 2006 13:53
The Basketmakers Arms, Brighton
I have mixed feelings about this pub. It's been too busy every time I've been there - a good sign I know but frustrating if you want to eat and a table isn't available. The food is very good and the portions generous - for example, you get a block of cheddar on the ploughman's which is about the same size as a prepackaged supermarket portion! I find the mixture of Gales and Fullers beers uninspiring but they are well kept. The clientele - which has attracted a number of comments below - I still haven't quite worked out despite numerous visits. Nice enough but not friendly like The Lord Nelson or Evening Star just up the road. I'd go to those instead if you're going for beer and conversation.
8 Sep 2006 13:44
I wouldn't recommend this pub to anyone, despite the lovely eccentric landlady. It is too packed and there is no quiet area to sit in - the last time I visited, there was football blaring in the back bar and horse racing in the front bar. It's gloomy and very smoky and the regulars are unfriendly, which is not typical of Brighton pubs.
6 Sep 2006 14:30
I thought this was meant to be a pub review site, not an advertising board? Anyhow, I'll post a review. I'd never eat here because this place is so horribly smoky that all food would taste of nicotine. I'd never drink here again either as the beer is average at best and the glasses dirty and/or hot. I've been served a beer in a scalding hot glass! Scalding hot is also what the pub is as it's small and gets packed with people who need to shout to make themselves heard over the general din. You can only see the dock if you're jammed at the back and you most certainly can't see the river! Avoid.
6 Sep 2006 14:21
My God, I think most of the reviewers must have been tripping when they wrote about this pub! The place is a dirty, unkempt dive. The bar staff are surly at best and the beer is just about acceptable at best but often on its way out. I'm all for having an outside loo to add a bit of character, but not one where you need to put waders on and hold your breath to use! And the one man's cubicle was out of use with no sign of being repaired. Best not to eat! Oh and finally, don't come here to talk, because the music is deafening. Avoid unless you're too drunk or stoned to care.
1 Sep 2006 14:19
This is the pub if you're into mindless nationalism and can't spell or punctuate. Now bedecked in St George's crosses, sadly without the hilarious banner that was draped across the front of the pub a few months ago. It read, and I kid you not, "They gave there yesterdays for our today's". The place must be oozing intelligent conversation!
1 Sep 2006 14:09
This isn't a pub. It's a restaurant, if you can call one step up from McDonald's that, with a bar in it. Said bar has no decent ales and the usual boring lagers. You'll have more fun if you go home via the offy and put a ready meal in the microwave - both the drink and food will be better and the atmosphere more lively.
26 Jul 2006 14:27
Don't go here! It's grubby and unwelcoming and the beer has been poor the times I've visited. Very strong windows though - an open window survived my head. And probably many others - opened right across the steps to the beer garden. That's about the only way this place will knock you out. And to be fair to this place, I will repeat the comment I made on The Greyhound's review - don't go there instead as it's just as bad.
26 Jul 2006 14:20
As one of the other posters said, this pub has so much potential - and uses none of it. Five or so years ago, it was a lovely place for a relaxing and quiet beer - but then all hell broke loose when the lovely garden was turned into a children's adventure playground. Also the standard of the clientele has nosedived - used to be decent people but the last time I visited, almost every table outside was occupied by foul-mouthed, drunken neanderthals. Avoid - but don't go to The Fox over the road instead - the competition for the worst pub on the green is too close to call!
26 Jul 2006 14:14
Hey Greasymole, I think you've confirmed that the age policy was never adhered to in this chavpit. "Being the grand old age of 22,this pub 5 years back was the place to be! Strictly over 18's..."!!!
I very much doubt The Sky Bar will be any different. You can call a bar a different name and give it a redecoration but the same crap keeps coming back. The former Black Horse in Sidcup is a great example. I look forward to the first review of this stupidly renamed pit as I certainly won't be going in there to review it!
26 Jul 2006 13:47
The website seems to have lost the review I posted a week ago, so I'll try again.
This is a fabulous pub. It is everything a pub should be - very friendly punters, good beer, a relaxing place to be. It has three separate rooms, including an intimate front bar. A great place to play chess as well! Although it is a Greene King pub, Harvey's is still served from its days as a Beards house because the regulars prefer it!
I thoroughly recommend this pub for the great beer and people.
19 Oct 2005 13:57
What a fabulous pub! It has the welcoming atmosphere of a true local, is largely unspoilt inside and most importantly of all, serves a perfect pint. A truly relaxing place to spend a few, or maybe more, hours.
14 Oct 2005 14:23
This pub is awful I'm afraid. It has no atmosphere, good or otherwise, and the real ale is served so cold there's almost ice crystals in it! Does the landlord know nothing about cellarship? Steer well clear if I were you.
14 Oct 2005 14:19
The Royal Oak is a wonderful pub. It is an old-fashioned pub in the best sense - friendly punters, landlord and staff, preserved interior. I can't understand the comments from some of the reviewers - I have been here dozens of times and have never had anything other than a perfect pint. The seasonal Harvey's brew is nearly always available, often with Armada as well as the standard Harvey's bitter. Small, cosy and relaxing - thoroughly recommended for the cerebral, friendly ale drinker.
12 Oct 2005 13:58
The Tollesbury Barge, South Quay
It's tragic that the Tollesbury became a submersible. If the cause is found to be sabotage or the building firm working nearby on ridiculously priced flats, all the previous drinkers at the Tollesbury should be allowed to dunk the culprit in the dock in turn, with the winner of a raffle getting to tie the weight around the culprit before his turn! RIP Tollesbury.
6 Oct 2005 13:53
I returned to this pub recently having not been there for about three years. It used to be an entirely non-smoking pub (I'm not anti-smoking but you wouldn't believe how much smoke in the air affects the taste of a good pint) so it was an immediate disappointment to see a guy smoking a stinky pipe. Why abolish that policy? Money talks I guess... Anyway, the quality of the beer soon got me over the disappointment - a perfect pint of Tanglefoot as always. The food is very good if a little expensive and to be fair to the owners, it can be eaten in the non-smoking restaurant. A very good pub still, well worth a visit.
6 Oct 2005 13:40
The Haunch of Venison, Salisbury
I hadn't been to the Haunch for probably three years and after reading the comments on this website about the refurbishment, it was with some trepidation I stepped inside a few weeks ago. What a relief! What on EARTH were these people talking about - the pub ruined?! It has retained all its charm and quirkiness and was serving just the one beer as before. Yes, the neon sign should go (there's simply no need for it) and the chairs are nasty - but these don't serve to spoil it. Anyone who was worried like I was - don't be!
6 Oct 2005 13:31
This pub is horribly depressing. A boring selection of drinks, an edgy atmosphere, people who know nothing about any sport except football, dirty, scruffy decor with mass-produced trinkets, absolutely no redeeming features at all. Avoid unless you're an alcoholic and want to mix with plenty of others.
6 Oct 2005 13:23
The New Cross Turnpike, Welling
I agree The Turnpike is the best pub in Welling, but as the cliche goes, in the kingdom of the blind the one-eyed man is king! So it doesn't mean it's good - it's ok. Beer selection has improved from a couple of years ago and it's a friendly place. A better than average Wetherspoons, so you'll like it if you like Wetherspoons. If you don't...
6 Oct 2005 13:16
The Ledger Building, Canary Wharf
This is easily the best place in Canary Wharf. I'm not a Wetherspoons fan, but the managers of this one are excellent. An effort is made to keep at least three guest beers on, the beer is kept well and service is good even when very busy (although I do wish there was a separate area for food orders). As there are effectively four separate seating areas, it doesn't feel oppressively packed even when it is! Prices have gone up recently but still represent excellent value when compared to the other rip-off joints in Canary Wharf.
15 Jun 2005 14:02
This place has gone downhill drastically. Used to be the best pub in Canary Wharf (not difficult) but the service has become appalling recently. Sometimes there are two people serving behind the bar, even on a Friday lunchtime! Two people serving, maybe 50+ people waiting at the bar. Completely ridiculous. To the management - stop being so tight and employ more people! Also get someone who knows how to stocktake properly - the number of times London Pride runs out is a joke! To Canary Wharf punters - go to the Wetherspoons or Cat.
15 Jun 2005 13:45
This place is tragic. It is full of under 18 chavs and chavettes draped with bling which must have come from cereal packets or Christmas crackers. Each chav has enough cheap aftershave on to drown a household pet. You can pick out the most intelligent ones by listening to who can form over half a sentence. Racist, ignorant and violent. Fights every few minutes, probably about who in the pub has made their scabby chavette pregnant. If this is the future of Britain, I'd advise everyone else to emigrate!
8 Jun 2005 14:21
Horrid, absolutely horrid. This was one of the worst Wetherspoons before it became a Lloyds, which has only made it worse. The worst pub I know for having a line of interesting pump clips on display, only to find out half of the beers aren't on when you finally get served. The atmosphere is about the same as the KwikSave that used to stand on the site. After 7pm, you have to be under 18 and of a similar IQ to get in. Avoid!
6 Jun 2005 14:47
This is a good bar to go to if you want something a little different in Bromley. A good selection of Belgian beers with Leffe, a kriek and another beer on draught and a couple of dozen bottles. The food includes a number of Belgian favourites ("foreign" food in a Belgian bar - what a shocker - thanks for the laugh Peter!). The main drawback in the winter is it's far too smoky inside. The main drawback in the summer is the groups of loud, drunk, geezers it attracts and the mindless shouted "conversation" everyone has to endure as a result. Worth a visit nonetheless.
6 Jun 2005 14:06
The Beer Circus is a superb place and an absolute godsend in a place which is so full of pubs for the cerebrally challenged. The selection of Belgian and other European beers is huge. The bar staff are extremely knowledgeable and will always recommend a beer based on the type and strength you fancy if you can't decide from a very thick menu! The place is small and gets crowded, but the crowd are all very chatty and intelligent, a pleasure to be with. I can't recommend this place highly enough for those into their beers and good company.
25 Apr 2005 14:13
The Glen Rothay Hotel and Badger Bar, Rydal
The Badger Bar is a hotel bar open to all. It is in a beautiful location near Rydal Water, about a mile from Ambleside. There are always several real ales on, including local beers from Jennings and Coniston breweries. These change regularly and are beautifully kept. The food is also good and the bar staff are some of the friendliest you'll come across. If you're in the area, don't miss this place!
25 Apr 2005 14:03
This is a small, unspoilt local near Brighton station which is always worth a visit. The whole Harvey's range is available and the beer is always excellent. A relaxed atmosphere and friendly bar staff. Don't miss it!
22 Apr 2005 13:59
I have been in love with this pub for over 15 years when I first discovered it as a student! Each visit since then has been just as good as the first. At the bottom of the hill out of Topsham, you can't miss it because it's pink! Several separate rooms which are truly snug in winter. No bar, just a serving hatch in the corridor. Unchanged inside for probably a century or more. Good ales and ciders. Has been in the same family for generations. Discovered on my last visit that the landlord is a teetotaller!!! A fabulous place for a quiet and good beer.
22 Apr 2005 13:49
This is a pleasing and relaxing place for a beer. It is a good cross between a traditional pub and a more bar-like set-up. So wooden seats and sofas, bare floors and thick rugs! The Fullers beers on draft are always excellent. Although the clientele in this pub are fine, the bar is unfortunately in the middle of the drink-fuelled Bromley North warzone, so bear that in mind when you leave!
21 Apr 2005 14:08
This is a lovely small side-street pub a minute walk from Weymouth station - you'll see the Hop Back sign as you come out! Most of the Hop Back range is on draft, beer is cared for, the clientele are chatty and the landlord is very friendly and a great bloke! The pub also has a skittle alley although there was a pool table on it when I last visited! A great place for a beer any time of day.
21 Apr 2005 13:58
What on earth has happened to this pub? Three years ago it used to serve six real ales which were well-kept and interesting, and the atmosphere was lively and friendly. When I went in there again a couple of months ago there were no real ales, a beer being flogged off cheap because it was stale, only four other people in there on a mid-Saturday evening who were all semi-conscious with drink. Don't even go near this place!
21 Apr 2005 13:49
The Evening Star is a great pub. The Dark Star range is excellent - always a style to suit your drinking mood on the day. Not forgetting the European beers and guests available! Very basic inside - wooden benches and floors which add to its attraction. Gets packed at certain times but the clientele is friendly and into their ales. You can't visit Brighton without going in this pub - so close to the station it should be your first, and last, port of call!
19 Apr 2005 14:10
The Freemasons Arms, Covent Garden
This pub has gone downhill drastically in the past couple of years. It started with Greene King losing interest in it and Shep Neame have let it slip further. The beer is often bland and flat. Far too crowded to enjoy. And that's without the shady masons who often arrive in a herd from the nearby temple! There's far better pubs in Covent Garden in all four directions.
19 Apr 2005 14:00
The Coach and Horses, Covent Garden
This pub is probably the best in Covent Garden - especially if you like a drop of the black stuff! The Guinness here is imported from Dublin. It's rather expensive but then so is everywhere else in the area. A small, genuine Irish pub which always has a good atmosphere. You'll be lucky to get a seat though! The bar staff are some of the best I've ever encountered - often pouring four orders at once but not losing track of them! Thoroughly recommended.
19 Apr 2005 13:50
The Robin Hood and Little John, Bexleyheath
This wonderful little backstreet local completely deserves all the awards it has won. A good range of real ales, all beautifully kept, a very friendly landlord and landlady, good food and a chatty and likeable clientele. Also a small but sunny and pretty beer garden for the warmer days. I would always recommend this pub to the real ale drinker. By far the best pub in the area.
18 Apr 2005 14:02
If you want to be served an extortionately priced 3/4 of a pint by rude bar staff and surrounded by self-important merchant bankers who talk loudly about themselves, you can't beat this place. Otherwise I politely suggest you walk on by to avoid spoiling your day.
18 Apr 2005 13:51
Bankes Arms Hotel and Country Inn, Studland
I made my first visit to this pub yesterday. Six real ales which seem to be well kept. I didn't eat so I can't comment about the food. The pub was very busy and full of the walker/Sunday lunch brigade who clearly don't go to pubs often. Beautifully situated but don't go here for a quiet pint.
18 Apr 2005 13:45
The Square and Compass, Worth Matravers
If you only ever make it to one more pub in your life, make it this one! For those who like their real ale, real cider, mulled cider (yes, really!), dogs and stepping into a timewarp, this is the place! The pub looks like a farmhouse from the outside, has two separate rooms with flagstone floors, one with a roaring fire and the other with an ancient heater. No bar, just a serving hatch with an orderly queue of drinkers! It must have remained unchanged inside for a couple of centuries. Quite simply the most relaxing pub I have ever been to. It is remote but well worth whatever you have to do to get there!

The Boot is a simply fantastic pub. Incredibly friendly punters and bar staff, a place where conversation rules (at least until several pints of Cheddar Valley cider have been sunk!). Unspoilt, small, the way a pub should be.

This is a cracking little pub, a local tucked away in the side streets in Bromley North. It serves a good pint of Harveys and several other guests. It is small and gets crowded but the atmosphere is always chatty and happy. No hormone-fuelled idiots here. Thoroughly recommended for a good beer with good company.
