O'Neills, Richmond

Went to this pub last night to see a band I know well, who I have seen on countless occasions in the past few years. There were 3 of us aged 20, 20 and 19, all with valid passports for proof of age and all sober and well presented. We were turned away on the grounds that we were under 21. Never have I been to an O'Neills that has refused me service for this reason, including the one in Central London. A complete and utter disgrace and an insult to Irish hospitality, it's time they dropped this "friendly oirish" marketing bollocks as it's downright offensive when you operate discriminatory door policies such as this.

The Alexandra, Clapham

Used to rate this place as the best boozer that side of Clapham (you'll have to head down past the Old Town for proper pubs), but swiftly fell out of love with the place when they started randomly deciding to be an Over 21 establishment. I used to come in here with my father very often to watch the GAA and rugby, even before I started drinking, and then afterwards by myself to watch the soccer. However when I go in there with two friends my own age, all of us sober and all of us with valid ID, we're told it's Over 21s.

Refusing people service based on their age, with the piss poor (and false) excuse that 'under 21s cause more trouble' is discrimination. You wouldn't refuse a black person because you think more black people carry knives so how a pub gets away with this is beyond me. If I ran this place and wanted to filter the clientle, I'd be taking a look at the loud Australians or the suit & tie Cityboys, rather than your one-time regulars.

The Claddagh Ring, Hendon

For all those talking about wanting better bands...
The BibleCodeSundays play there now every Sunday and they are absolute magic. The best London Irish band in... well, in London!

Check them out, you will not be disappointed.

The Alexandra, Clapham

One of the livliest pubs in Clapham that are actual pubs. Used to be an Irish pub and it still attracts the younger Irish generation as well as the Claphamites (read: Australians and city workers). Can get very smokey but that's all set to change now :) Can get very busy so avoid it if you don't like crowds and their noise, otherwise it's great espeically for the Man Utd games.

The Plough Inn, Clapham

Staff are sound, pool table is good and the regular clientelle are friendly. Sometimes it's full of chav scum off the local estates but makes a change from the cityboys who frequent the rest of Clapham.

The Antelope, Tooting

Great pub, home of the Wimbledon Celtic Ssupporters Club. The best pub I've found in south London for Celtic matches, and if you're lucky you'll catch some great music too. The staff seem friendly, the Guinness is fine and it's not overly expensive.
