The Victoria Stakes, Muswell Hill
Had a passable pint of ale here for 3.30 but was either charged 4.90 for a single G & T or shortchanged. Couldn't be arsed to challenge it at the time, so instead just fumed. Grrr gastro tossers.

Generally this is one of the better wetherspoons, with a selection of well kept guest ales, loads of space even when Arsenal play at home, food and cleanliness above average for the chain.
Ive no problem with the 11pm closing.
However on the last four occasions I visited the hassle to leave starts with fury and intensity as soon as the pub clock strikes 11pm (usually about 10:58pm real time) and gets increasingly aggressive until everyone is out of the door at 11:15.
Until they start paying the staff for an extra 15 minutes at the end of the day or whatever i would advise against any drinks purchase after 10:45 on the pub clock (usually 10:43) unless you want to neck your drink.

lovely old style boozer with lovely real ale.
they need to get the khazis fixed though as the aroma escapes into the main room of the pub.
the real ale and the real pub atmosphere easily compensates though.

Henry's Cafe Bar, Covent Garden
no ale so relied on the guiness
Had to manage my own toilet duties without unwanted assistance, as thankfully there was no toilet troll when i visited early on sat evening 6/12/08 (til 9pm anyhows.)
managed to get a table and gawp at the townies.
If you must drink in covent garden and need a bit of space and cheap cocktails its not all bad.

Truckles of Pied Bull Yard, Bloomsbury
nice place if you like wine bars
you have to go downstairs to get a pint of ale
a tad pricey at 3.30 perhaps but tasty enough and an unusual and interesting place to make it worthwhile

Tufnells, Tufnell Park
Now the Tufnell Park Tavern:
Unrelentingly middle class, families abound and if you have kids this would be a great place to enjoy the sun.
If the author of chavs needs to research a new book on the middle class "the self entitled" he should start here.
Nice pint of Sussex best. Doombar also available.
