The Porter, as it is known locally is a very busy pub, mainly because of the standard of the beer (not forgetting the range of beers) and the great staff.
I too visit the Wheatsheaf next door and find the same people frequent both bars, Having said that, it is worth being patient as the Porter has more good ales than you can drink in one session.
NB. Bonnie is back, she decided not to leave.

Reading the previous reviews sums up this wonderful oasis. Alf the free Spaniard, and Candi the South African refugee are a great team and make you feel instantly welcome. I have started to notice lady drinkers in attendance which, is a recent change. The sarnies are great value for a city pub and the beer is excellant. Long live the traditional British ale house.

I love this small but friendly little pub. Linda behind the bar is a true Landlady, flirty and always checking if "you are ok darlings", just what you need after a long day at the office.
Good ale and a traditional welcome. What more can you ask for.

I love the pub, I know the area out the back is small, but that also makes it intimate and cozy. The beer is consistantly good and the staff are friendly and competant.

I have spent the last few sundays at the wheatsheaf, it serves a truly excellent sunday roast, the atmosphere has been great and they have also been hosting an acoustic music session in the evening. The beer is consistantly good and the staff join in the fun as do the customers. Get down there now.

The Blue Boar, Poole
Nick was called the guv'nor during his time at the market porter borough market, because he is the consumate pub landlord (al murry fans go and see him).
I am sure the blue boar will be the perfect stage for Nick, my favourite landlord.
