The Alex, Felixstowe

Odd inverted snobbery in some of the comments here. "Soulless yummy-mummy types"? Why are yummy mummies soulless? Hohum.

We have made numerous family visits to The Alex now, and it is clearly the best place to eat in Felixstowe. The food is simple but good, the environment clean and pleasant and the staff friendly and welcoming, especially to children. Sure, the beer is limited - Adnams if you don't want lager - but it's not bad Adnams, and that's pretty good by any objective measure.

If you want decent food in a decent environment served by friendly staff, it's fine. If you want beer with twigs in it, "colourful characters" and the smell of wet dog (as I sometimes do - nothing wrong with that) then perhaps somewhere else would be a better choice...

The White Horse, Edwardstone

Pretty much as good as pubs get. The beer (both guest and brewed on site) is first rate, the food is home made and excellent and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. The new room is great and the "green" credentials second to none. Edwardstone is a great place to live, but having the White Horse round the corner is the icing on the cake.
