Am sure the managers will be surprised as I am that the Green Man appears to have been twinned with the Crown in Westcott as that's where most of those who have grievances with the Green Man recently also appear to drink.
Curiously coincidental...

I have read the last few comments with interest and a fair amount of amazement.
I have been a regular at the Green Man for a good number of years. Am curious how someone who started drinking there a couple of months ago can describe himself as a 'regular' and claim to be able to accurately describe the behaviour of such regulars when, as far as I can tell, the same faces always seem to be there whenever I pop in - all as happy and cheery as ever. I guess we must be all the 'old soaks' referred to by BD Mark which I personally find distasteful.
As to the behaviour of any the staff described by BD Mark - I personally have never witnessed anything of the like. I have a shrewd idea which barman is referred and find the assessment of him impossible - usually it is difficult to hear him as he mumbles far too much, far from him declaiming his sexuality 'very loudly'. I have heard the occasional banter with the regular faces which is all well and good and to be expected, welcomed even rather than the drunken ramblings of others at the bar who use expletives every other word. I would much personally prefer the former repartee to the latter bawl. From that point of view the comments have the air of a personal attack (and it is rather shameful choosing to 'out' a member of staff on a public forum rather than taking a sensible approach and choosing to air grievances to the managers - obviously as a 'regular' BD Mark would know exactly who to approach).
Interesting to note that BD Mark describes his profile as 'Like a decent in a decent pub, where the staff are friendly, the beer good and the food edible. Attitude pube need not apply.' If the regulars who have, and continue, to patronise the pub for many years are described as 'old soaks' then it appears BD Mark had soaked up many a glass when he chose to write that.
I will confess that my recent comments on my little local haven't been the best but there has since been a marked improvement. On almost every occasion I have popped in recently the service has been flawless and you would still have to travel far to beat the Sunday roast. Other pubs (such as the Telegraph) have chosen to rest on their laurels whereas the Green Man has chosen to up the stakes of late.

Visited here for Sunday lunch after quite a while away.
Even though I was disappointed on my last visit, was pleasantly surprised. The staff were good, food amazing and really enjoyed the beer. Maybe I was wrong to overlook the Telegraph in favour of the Green Man down the road.........

Popped in here last night for a couple - not a bad place at all since the refurb. Staff were friendly and welcoming.....
Definitely worth a revisit soon!

Not sure what's happening in the Green Man of late, but the mood appears to have changed over the last few weeks not seemingly for the better.
Not quite as friendly as I remember. I thought all Aussies were happy shiny people but this appears to have some who are definitely suffering the winter blues and missing the sun. Pity as I had high hopes of the new managers - maybe they've burned out already?
I thought the funeral parlour was down the Vale, not at the Heath.

Have popped back in a few times and still pleased to see that in the main things are still going well with my little local.
Had the roast last Sunday and wow - best one I think have ever eaten! Didn't see any evidence of 'jenga' chips, just well set out and well tasty food!
On the down side, it seems that they may have a few staffing issues. A number of times when have been in there's only one person manning the bar leading to lots of customers waiting at the bar (and occasionally walking away). Classic example - came in last Friday to take advantage of the nice weather and they were busy with what appeared to only be two (guy and tall bubbly lass) working. They were trying their best but you could tell they were suffering.
Nevertheless this is still the best pub in Putney in my book.

Went there yesterday to check out the garden - wow!!
What a place for a sunny Sunday afternoon, and no wonder they were packed out. The only downside is that they can't have music in the garden (which the guy I asked said was something to do with the estate to the rear of the pub not allowing them to put on - boo on them!).
Wasn't able to resist a burger from the bbq, and guess what? It was amazing. Also like the fact that they now open the garden bar so you don't have to walk far for your Pimms.
I agree with the comments by PDWR about the team. Never been served by anyone who wasn't down to earth and friendly. They have a lot more staff than they used to and it shows. I think they are doing an amazing job. All credit to Aggie.

Have known this pub for many years. Can't understand the negative comments about the place post refurb - it's still got that cosy pub feel whilst having been updated for 21st century (and I suspect some of the customers are still living in the 19th C)
The staff are still amazingly friendly and attentive (which is a rarity in most of the places within walking distance where robots or lazy layabouts seem to be the norm). Have to say that the new management team have their heads screwed on right - keep it up guys!
With fab food (better than ever), good beers and an amazing new decking out the back (roll on summer!) what more could you ask for?

The Green Man, Putney Heath
To wolfdog - if you have read any of my posts, you will see that I haven't always described the Green Man positively. From that point of view, you can't really accurately describe me as having a bias towards the pub.
Well done arctral on your forensic deductions. Curious to how the various posters you highlight with similarities all refer to the Green Man as 'the GM', which appears to be a rather telling consistency...
Maybe there is some single individual out there with an agenda. Either way, it should be confined to emails rather than on here. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this designed to review pubs than act as a bitching forum board.
