Called in early doors one night in late February. There was a good atmosphere, log burner giving out loads of heat and it is definately a drinkers pub.
Their own 'Neck Oil' went down a treat and was incredible value for money. The Copper Dragon was also on top form
A real drinkers paradise and I could almost 'feel' the history of the place. I'm only an occasional visitor to Hull but this will be my first stop on my next visit!

It's definately a pub for the 'younger' element with the wide screens everywhere.
Not so good if you are after real ale. I called in a few weeks ago after spotting the row of hand pumps. I should have noticed the absence of any pump clips but too late - I was already in the building and saw that there were no pipes attached.
So it was a quick half of fizzy keg (actually I left most of it) and out of the door as soon as I could!
I'm not giving a rating as it is not the type of pub I would normally frequent and this would be unfair as I am not really qualified to comment

Called back and had some food this time. 7.95 for a pie, mash & gravy is maybe a touch on the high side but it was very good so no complaints. A steak at the same price seems good value.
Unfortunately I did now spot the obligatory TV with guess what - too easy - yes Sky Sports. Luckily the place is big enough so at least you can get away from it.

I'm not a local as such but must have driven past this pub thousands of times in my life without ever bothering to call in. Have read some of the comments and it must have been pretty vibrant in the past!
I think I read about the 'latest' opening in the Derby Drinker and it sounded good enough to warrant a visit.
Called in last night and worthwhile it was too!
Quietish but with a good atmosphere. Tried three of the nine handpumps and all were pretty damm goood.
We didn't eat but the food that was coming out looked good.
Loo's were spotless.
Couldn't spot any of those huge intrusive TV's anywhere. What a pleasant change.
A Real Ale haven.
Will definately be back

The Temple Hotel, Matlock Bath
Landlord and staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the beers and always keeps a good selection on. Brew Dog from Fraserborough always seems to go down well as does any of the (slightly more local) Blue Monkey and Thornbridge.
Never eaten there but the food always looks good. If you are a real ale enthusiast and ever in Matlock Bath, it is worth the walk up the hill as you are away from the tourist area an will find yourself in a nice and friendly hostelry.
