Come for the food, not the beer. Big, packed restaurant/pub, serving big portions of serviceable food to groups of pensioners, families and workmates. Not for romantic trysts.
Decent, good value pub grub and fresh fish specials. Good, well kept beer ruined by being pulled through a creamer. Friendly atmosphere. Worth a visit.

Slightly odd room layout including a large room laid out as a restaurant and a large central bar makes it hard for this imposing pub to build much of an atmosphere. Menu is 50/50 English and Indian and quite long, but I think they'd be better off with a shorter fresher menu than one that the current one which the chefs appear bored with. My lamb Biryani was large but poor value despite being served by friendly staff, and the chocolate bread and butter pudding was grimly dry and stale and inadequately warmed through. My suggestion: go for the beer and grab a seat by the fire, but eat somewhere else.

Very warm welcome to this basic, honest village local. Located within a stonesthrow of the Severn would make this a great stop off for walkers in need of a beer and a bite. Indeed good though the beer is, it's the authentic Indian cuisine which is the big draw here. Today's Lamb Biryani accompanied by a cool pint of Sharpes finest was a rare treat, and an incongruous surprise in this small ruriduastrial village. I'd visit again with pleasure. Not somewhere to treat the inlaws but a top venue for a group of mates .

Really welcoming proper old fashioned boozer. Well kept Butcombe. Live music on a couple of times a week - excellent local Cajun band Ponchartrain were playing the night we were in. Mixed crowd from students to pensioners. No food but they're happy for you to bring in a take-away.
