The New Three Mile Inn, Gosforth
Pub side needs an overhaul - beer ok though.
Restaurant side needs re-organising - the lights are positioned in such a way that no light shines on the tables and this makes the munu hard to read! Food I think is per-prepared or bought in and just reheated and plated up but there is nothing actually wrong with it!

My local for want of a better word but not one that I visit very often.
Still the food is OK the staff OK and the beer OK - it is just atmosphere that is missing!

This is one of those pubs that is a bit out of the way so tends to get missed. I only visit once or twice a year but the staff & customers are always friendly and the beer good so I dont know why I visit this so rarely!

Of all the pubs I've visited this ones toilets are the worst and have been for years despite the changes in Landlords and Landladies. The cellar is cold and damp so the real is usually ok - this used to be the best pint in Tyneside back in the 80's & 90's - what's wrong?

It hasn't improved - but it is now better than the County - still this is more an enditement of the County than praise for how the Gosforth Hotel is being run. I go to the JOB bulman to use the loo and then pop back for another pint! Is this legal? Food is cheap & cheerful

Cheap & Cheerful - a few too many schoolkids and families for my liking.
Beer didn't seem very strong either! Food was poor but cheap

What a shame - was one of the best a few years ago but now ruined.
Ale was OK - I didn't take it back but I didn't want aa second one!

If you can wedge yourself in the beer is excellent and the staff friendly - well worth a visit

I agree with the pretentious comment but, I took the wife there for the valentines special last year and was delighted with the food and wine - although the bill was a bit high.
More recently I've stopped in a couple of pints and they were fine but you can get better in town!

The Akenside Traders, Newcastle
Good city centre pub with reasonable prices - beer was fine with a reasonable selection

The Widdrington Inn, Widdrington
Went in one weekend - place smelt like everything was fried - food didn't look apertising so had a quick coke and moved on in our search for somewhere to eat - luckily there is a farm shop around the corner with a very good cafe

Better than the standard pub fare - the specials are well worth trying as they are usually very good. The sausages are excellent - so is the seafood!! However some food is pre-prepared and occasionally either re-heated or overcooked and I've had to return a couple of meals. The waiting staff however are excellent and replacements have been quick to arrive without and problems at all.
Real ale and draft beers offer a good selection and the celler is well kept - I've never had to take a pint back (I wish I could say this of more pubs). The bar staff are friendly and efficient.
The landlord and landlady are often around and are most eager to hear comments - good and bad.

The Snowy Owl, Cramlington
Exactly what you expect from a chain. Menu too repetitive! Beer ok - good for families with kids
