Excellent boozer. The landlord, as noted below, is a most genial chap and certainly knows a thing or two about keeping a good cellar.

De La Pole Arms, Wingfield

After a recent change of hands, approx 6 months ago, this pub has now shut.

Contrary to Smithjones' review below, the food was far too expensive given the competition in the area.

Billywitch had a point, not that it matters now. I just hope that it re-opens in the not too distant future.

The Queens Head, Hawkedon

Visited this pub twice recently at lunchtime; closed, both times. Drove on to a very good place in Whepsted a couple of miles away.

I'll give it one more try tomorrow...

The Case is Altered, Five Ways

I used to drink here before I moved away from the area. Good little pub, with good beer too. With respect to the comment below, if one may soundbite...

Erm, to take point...

Is the money professional men, or women, any better than that of others. As a member of a proffesional institute, the RICS, I think not. If I were a publican, I would gladly serve all, be they a ground worker, a shelf stacker or the Lord Chief Justice, Igor Judge.

Golf Society Meeting; says it all really. The rock and roll life style didn't pass you chaps by, did it?

Two and a half hours 'responsible' drinking, while passing four to five hundred pounds over the bar between sixteen? This equates to �28.13ish a head, in a pub that didn't do food? That would be around ten pints each then. I assume you all managed to waddle in to a taxi afterward for a safe homeward journey?

While the above may be tongue-in -cheek, and your service has not have been up to scratch; your rather I'm a professional, and a golfer too attitude does you no favours and your review even less. Take a pub for a pub; if you need smarming points while jangling the keys to your Audi, do us all a favour and stick to the 19th, eh?

The Harbour Inn, Southwold

Nice pub approached either by the asphalt road through the golf course or, as I prefer, via the pot holed, bone rattling habourside track

This family and dog friendly pub serves reasonable food, notably fish and chips, and does a nice line of Adnams� beers. The choice areas to eat and drink is within the older, split level original pub, thought there are age limits on children being allowed access. Should the pub be busy, or should you have younger children, there is alternative seating in a large, characterless extension, or weather permitting, outside to the front of the pub overlooking the river.

The Kings Head (Low House), Laxfield

Superb ale drinkers pub, with a large selection of Adnams� beers, served by polite staff from the cellar room at the rear.

The pubs, which is a very picturesque thatched number, is divided in to three drinking areas, a large settle in the front room, usually monopolised by the locals, a little snug off to the right and a further room as you approach the cellar. A fourth room serves mainly as a dining area.

Food is good and very reasonably priced, starting from filled baguettes and ploughmans for five to six pounds mark, up to �12ish for mains.

Nice, large beer garden is located to the rear, together with a number of benches to the front that provide an excellent, sunny location for a boozy, summer afternoon overlooking the small brook and the church beyond.

Very nice pub set with pleasant, undulating countryside with good views of the church opposite. Pleasant in winter with a large roaring fire in the bar, also pleasantly cool in warm summer evenings.

Beer generally good quality, with the occasional mini beer festivals providing interesting alternatives to the generic Adnams Best, house wines dissapoint though. Also has cider and lager on tap.

Food used to be okay, but a recent change in the kitchen staff has reputedly improved the standards of the food, though prices are certainly at the higher end of pub grub range.

Staff, though young and slightly inexperienced, are welcoming and the service at the bar is generally swift.

Overall; a very good pub to while away a lazy, sunny afternoon or to warm up after a chilly and wet autumnal walk. Note; the pub is in the middle of nowhere so, unless you�re local, you�ll be needing a car and preferably a driver too.
