A truly welcoming pub, visited well out of season on a half term break with my son. Not a real ale drinker, but Guiness was very well kept! Food was ok, good basic pub fare. One small criticism, a little bit too doggy for my liking, am a bit old school and prefer dogs to be on leads in pubs, and not able to take a pee up the side of the bar! But a very quirky place with an interior that seems to have grown rather than been manufactured!

Well, what a transformation! Darren & Suzanne moved took the helm at the Royal Oak in November, within three months it is back to being a truly great pub, fantastic atmosphere, and welcoming to not only the locals, but to the many visitors to our village.

A 1Million refurb, dont make me laugh! The place is a dump, it looks like it is falling down, the windows look like they are falling out, & it doesnt matter what time you go past it looks shut!
Its a great shame because it is one of those pubs that is a landmark in the area, but it would seem that the only way is down.
Went in a few years back, wouldnt bother again.

I still cant understand the reviewers that preferred this pub when it was the Desert Rat. When Tom took this place over it was a run down, dirty, nasty horrible hole, full of people nursing a small coca cola while playing pool for hours on end.
It is now, without a doubt, the best run pub in Reigate, the beer is good, if not its not for sale. The food here is exceptional, & you never see a dirty table.

I am a great fan of the decor, beer is ok too, but have to say I have found the service to be a bit slack. I ate here as part of their opening week, food & service were great, even considering that most of the staff were trainees. Been back a few times since & have to say that the standards have slipped, food has been a bit inconsistent too.
There are quite a few places doing better for less.

The Crabshell Inn, Kingsbridge
Well, I m truly glad that I wasnt able to check this place out online before visiting! Took a punt and decided to eat here while on holiday with my son during half term. Simply blown away.
At first glance a very basic but clean interior, with functional rather than comfy seating. managed to get a table for two in spite of most tables being reserved. Service was attentive but not pushy (in spite of us needing to vacate the table by a set time), as for the food.................Simply Stunning!
