The Southwark Tavern, London Bridge
Great little pub so close to everything that is so awfully touristy.
good food and beers. bonus factor is the cellar bar. very good for cosy cold sunday afernoons. you can wile away the time without it even realising. make sure you reserve an area.
Service is average to painfully slow, however, regretful and friendly.

The Defector's Weld, Shepherds Bush
The defectors is in serious need of a make over. Its still a great place for the Shepherds bush greeners as other counterparts leave a lot to be desired. Good mix of people, bar staff are good most of the time, but it can take a while to get served on the weekends. The food menu is pretty average. Some of the veggie options are pitiful. But, this place has never been known for its food.
If you want to take a side step away from the vulgarity of the bush its a good place to be and is worth the expense. Good seating for groups and has great booths etc. However, this pub is in a state of decay and it is increasingly more difficult to spend money in a place that seems to be seeping into the general dcor of the surrounding venues.
Also the passive smoking incorporated into loo visits is ever so pleasant.

Love the goldhawk. Nice mix of people. Great food menu, good ales and beers. Very good quiz on the Sunday (not too intellectual), which has a good social atmosphere. They have had a bit of a referb since I was here last, the toilets have been done up a treat.
Apart from the garden it is looking much better than The Eagle!
currently, only downside: the front door needs to be fixed. It make an almighty banging noise every time it closes. It is very very annoying!

The Askew Arms, Shepherds Bush
This pub used to be brilliant. It definitely isnt a place you can spend a lot of time in anymore, more of a passing through, quick pint or bite to eat place. The new referb is meant to make the place match up to its other gastro pub counterparts e.g. the eagle, the mulberry etc however it has failed. after closing for 2 weeks the re-opening only revealed that whoever hung the wall paper must have been blind. The addition of the chip fryer has given the pub the aroma of a cheap greasy spoon. I just couldnt wait to leave. The manager is unremorseful whenever anything goes wrong or is criticised, which is a shame as a more friendly customer service would be better appreciated. AND after all, when you are only trying to help along your local hang out, you would expect a little more enthusiasm. I have boycotted this place and will ALWAYS make the extra journey to go anywhere but the askew if only not to have to look at the awful wall paper that is allaskew.

The Rocket, Acton
This place is a small gem in the horror show of pubs in Acton. The food has seen better days but is still very good. The beer & wine selection is also good.
Does what it says on the tin.
