The Wheatsheaf, Combe Hay

Sadly stripped of its atmosphere by the current owner who is desperate to appeal to the middle classes with the decor and food. It seems to be working too, judging by my last visit. If you are plummy, prejudiced and don't mind being ripped off, this is the place for you.

The Packhorse Inn, Southstoke

The best pub in Bath. Unpredictable hours though, so give it a bell before going up there in case it's not open. Book if you want to eat! Excellent food, and deadly strong cider. Gorgeous location, especially in summer.

The Cross Guns, Avoncliff

The service here is so rude that it's actually comical. The food was ready before I got to my table with the drinks, which was weird. I feel that they can get away with treating customers badly because more will keep coming for the location. A shame, as it used to be a cracking pub.
