Although the menu has changed alot with not so many choices as they used to have the food is still very reasonable as are the Sunday lunches. Lovely location pretty on the outside as well as interesting on the inside..

Always stop here on the way to and back from North Wales,The menu has recently changed and in my opinion not as varied as before but still good value and is always busy. There is a Restaurant upstairs as well as to your right as you go in, the staff are helpful, special Sunday lunches served too

Took friends to the White Lion, and had a good meal.Roast Lamb, 4 veggies, roast parsnips, roast potatoes, and plenty of gravy. Didnt like the sachets of mint sauce which, in itself was far too vinegary. This was for Sunday Lunch so we booked. The only drawback was the fact that we were sitting to the left of the menu boards and one of our party had to get up and relate what was on them as there was no written menu. The staff as always were very friendly and helpful, we didnt have to wait overlong for our food and when is came there was plenty and it was hot. The Vegetables were to my liking tho some of the others in our party said that the cauliflower was too el dente...The rhubarb and plum crumble looked delicious as was the strawberry cheesecake and lemon meringue pie.We shall definately be going again.

The White Swan, Walton on Trent
Well we got there at the proper time 2pm, bearing in mind on the menu is states, Sunday Lunch served all day, we were greeted with the words "I am sorry there are no roast meals left!" Whaaat???? We found out that they had sold out at 1pm.!! We were very disappointed and had to have the main menu, nice enough but NOT sunday lunch! Someone should look to their ordering, especially as people book. We won't be going again..The rating is for the food we had and in sympathy for the waiting staff who took the brunt of the complaints.

Great old pub with good and interesting food. Can seem a bit cramped but then it is usually full. They appeared? to easily cope with a party of about 16 of us, at christmas all having different things to eat and not one mistake.

The Shoulder Of Mutton, Lichfield
I liked the Shoulder of Mutton, we went one Sunday, not many ppl in and we sat in the conservatory, the only ones there! The food was really good, and my starter had all my favourite flavours, I picked well!
The main room has lovely big sofas inviting you to plump yourself down and relax, it's a bit more difficult getting up cos some of them are low lol!
All in all we had a lovely afternoon with good food reasonably priced

The Grapes Hotel, Maentwrog
The above review for The Grapes was meant for another pub in that area, The Goat, my view of The Grapes is entiely different.
The more I think about our family meal there, the more apalled I become. The pepper sauce had to be asked for twice so that it could be eaten with the meal, the sauce in the chicken and leek pie was like wallpaper paste (a little cream wouldnt have gone amiss) two meals that were the same had peas and onion rings missing from it. To cap it all half way through eating a young waiter came to the table complete with spray gun and cloth enquiring if we had finished our meal...We used to eat here alot but it has gradually become worse, we keep giving it a chance but I am afraid after this time it will be the last....
