| Popped in here on a warm summer evening as part of a crawl. The only place where you could get a pint for under a fiver. A busy, traditional pub. My pint of Adnams, although drinkable, was 'on the turn', not unusual in this warm weather. Other people's beer was okay. | I visited the pub on Saturday the 16th May 2015 but found no sign of the totally mad barman ‘Grotesque Morrissey’ which was detrimental to the running of the pub in my opinion. The two attractive female staff members seemed to be more interested in conducting social media, and in fact had reserved two stools at the end of the bar by placing beer mats on them – I assume to make their life even more comfortable. | Have always loved this pub, it's a real gem. Should be interesting to see what happens if it is actually changing hands. Hopefully the aforementioned barman will be making an exit. Started going there a few years ago with a bunch of mates but eventually stopped going after seeing him 'in action' one too many times. Didn't want to be contributing to the wages of someone who seems to get his kicks bullying young women. Disgraceful. | its small, hard to find and has no natural light. But, this is a cracking London Boozer! what makes it great aside from the above? had to sign up to write a review as I heard a rumour its changing hands in the near future The staff are ace: Fiona who's always there when I'm in, doing a million things at once, always with a smile on her face. The young actors behind the bar make it a fun place to be and gives it an ambience you'd hope for (but rarely see) in a Theatreland pub. Oh and check out the fantastic, idiosyncratic selection of Gins and Malts, you don't see those in many London pubs these days.
