Went to the Pear Tree for a roast this Sunday gone and ordered the Prawns to start, one came out uncooked and we had to send them back. The two roast lamb (17.95 each) were unedible. The meat (shoulder) was very fatty and there were only three or four mouthfuls of actual meat surrounded by fat. They offered a dessert or glass of wine instead. I don't think I would return for a meal, it seemed over priced. The ladies behind the bar were nice, especially the tall lady with short hair and the dark haired lady. Very pleasant and helpful. This is a fine local that has been well rehabbed by the new owner. Proper British cuisine and a cheeky approach to serving a pint. This one is a winner. lkshoe - 1 Jun 2011 10:55 |
RiffRaff: There should be no sediment with a pasteurised product like Fosters, so my opinion on this is that there were deposits of yeast in the uncleaned beerline which would be dislodged by turbulence caused due to a lack of fluid in the line at the end of the barrel.Sorry, but eon22 is quite correct. Eon, mate, sediment has nothing to do with clean pipes, it's from the barrel, obviously it was nearing the end and they couldn't have done anything more than give you a free half. Don't worry, I wouldn't expect you to know that, I mean you do drink Fosters after all (maybe best not to advertise that in the future). RiffRaff - 13 May 2011 15:28 |
I went in there last night before the Fulham v Newcastle game to have a quick pint. I ordered a pint of Fosters that was 3.80p ( for Fosters!!!!!!) and sat down and started to enjoy my drink, whilst enjoying my first few sips of my cold pint I noted that the new owners have made a real effort to spruce this pub up as it used to be a right dive used by Fulham wannabe gangsters. However on reaching the last third of my pint I noticed sediment in the bottom of my glass! I pointed this out to the bar staff and the young girl did offer me a half-pint to compensate...fair play. For all the fancy and funky decor you can put in a pub it doesn't make up for one basic standard in the public house trade..................clean pipes!!!! eon22 - 3 Feb 2011 08:49 |
