I haven’t been in this pub since Euro 96 was held in the UK in 1996! Having found that the Albany was packed to the rafters at 9.30pm on a Wednesday night the next best option was the very close Green Man. Large Taylor Walker owned and managed pub with a good choice of ales. I had several pints of Tribute Extra from St Austall. First time I have seen this beer and it was good. Busy here as well but it emptied out quite a bit after the football ended. Friendly and quick service from the bar staff, regular London prices, decent deco…all in all a worthy substitute for when the Albany is too busy. lezford - 15 Oct 2014 15:11 |

I've passed the Green Man many times before on the bus. But yesterday was my first visit inside. 5 beers were on - Wells Bombardier, Morland Old Golden Hen, Thwaites Wainwright, Youngs London Gold & Woodforde Wherry. Cider was Westons Old Rosie. The interior is fairly large and was busy. But it does have some character to it. Tennis was being shown on the TVs. There's a good chance I'll pay a return visit some day. blue_scrumpy - 1 Jul 2012 12:38 |
Fairly standard Greedy King fare. Somewhat cavernous, which doesn't help the atmosphere in my opinion, but did have 5 ales, which is good. Very middle of the road, overall. aaroncp - 1 Jun 2011 09:58 |
2nd October popped in for a beer and bite on way to tube station. Pub looks nice its large and very clean. A good selection of ales but it was by far the most I paid for a pint while on our day in London. Onto the food, I decided on a normal burger my partner ordered a falafel burger as she is a veggie. after we sat down to wait we were told they had run out of the falafel burgers and also the other veggie option so we cancelled the food and asked for a refund as she could not eat. We got the refund for only one meal so I had to go to the bar and ask for the refund for the second meal which I eventually got. I have to say the barman was very friendly so I cannot fault that but it did put a small dent in our evening. We finished our drinks and left quickly to seek food elsewhere.
