Slug and Lettuce apparently reopening in Charter Square development. quizman - 15 Oct 2006 18:40 |
Bugger the slug & lettuce!!! I agree, bring back the Outrigger. Had many a fun evening in there. lucy75 - 28 Sep 2006 21:46 |
The Outrigger was blown out of the water by the Slug not fifty feet from its front door. Both are now closed, the Outtie being demolished some years ago (the whole area, right up to where the Two Brewers was and the dole office being a huge piece of wasteland). A real waste indeed. I was surprised to see The Slug closed as I thought the yuppies that drank (and ate) there brought in tons of cash but times are hard for pubs around that way. The restaurant and Royal Barge just along near the bridge have also been closed for some time. Between the Boaters and the Bishop there's....nowt! The Outrigger joined the list of extinct Kingston pubs along with The Two Brewers, The Dolphin, The Row Barge, The Lamb, the Cambridge Arms (crap though it was), the Duke Tavern and the Liverpool Arms. Too few drinkers and too costly to keep open... anonymous - 26 Sep 2006 14:08 |
I cant believe Roy is dead. No tribute in the Comet. Pah the times there are a changing. Ziggy66 - 2 Aug 2006 21:52 |
Slug & lettuce = One of the worst pubs in Kingston, glad its closed. Bring back the Outrigger - what great fun - good old fashioned pub with an atmosphere. RIP Roy Stringer aka Captain Carruthers (PS I'd join the "I drunk in the Outrigger Society"!!) Missya - 13 Jul 2006 18:13 |
