Whilst this pub is much improved - it is still very expensive considering where it is. Far from being undercut by just Wetherspoons the following selection of pubs are all cheaper (some significantly) and all are within reasonable walking distance of the Broken Cross The Swinging Witch Witton Chimes The Roebuck Nectars Wine Bar The Slow n Easy So, great that it has changed hands, new landlord seems to know how to run a pub, but it will never be what is was years ago, until it is able to compete. For example - Swinging With (Amber Taverns) Pint of Fosters - 1.85, Broken Cross 3 quid plus. verom - 29 May 2012 15:07 |
26th April 2012. UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. Have been in for drinks several times now. Ignore the previous comment about prices ,that will probably be the former landlady. Prices are as normal for any pub other than Wetherspoons. Pub is clean and polished. Toilets no longer smell. Laughter permitted ( encouraged ) Dogs allowed Football team wanted Darts team wanted Dominoes team wanted No restrictions on parking on pub carparks Walkers welcome Boats welcome Food available in July sometime COME HOME TO YOUR LOCAL ONCE MORE. Recently changed hands - drinks prices extortionate when compared with other similar type pubs. verom - 2 May 2012 11:49 |
Enjoyed a really good evening in brilliant company just last week. Real ale served for a price that others could not beat and a quality unmatched in the area. Food was top notch pub grub at a price you would find hard to meet if you did it youself. OOOPS, WRONG PUB. I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE PENNY BLACK SITE. Miller5 - 23 Dec 2011 11:17 |
Called at the pub over the last bank holiday weekend,, the friday night was packed out,,, beer was excellent john smiths extra cold recommended,,,didnt try the food but noticed pie and chips for a pound which im told goes really well in the afternoons.. Would recommend a visit, nothing better than sitting outside on a warm summers evening watching the barges passing through.. Found the price of the beer reasonable compared with other parts of the country and the staff very friendly. Will deffo pay a visit their when im next in the area. cymru44 - 6 May 2010 11:55 |
