Cheap as chips a good pint and the food is excellent. Nice staff and spent many a lunch hour in this place. Managed to sink four pints in 45 minutes that's impressive.

I recently moved to the area and found this a most welcoming small inn - a real community pub, I should have thought: it features a quiz night (on Mondays, I think), football sometimes is on the telly - though not dominating; groups of regulars meet to chew the fat - none of whom I would describe as 'po-faced'; some read and reflect. Isn't that what pubs are supposed to do? The beverages are fine and reasonably priced; the meals are passable. It hosts a mixed and varied clientelle, reflecting an age range from 18 to 80, though probably a twenties/thirties majority. It seems an extremely affable, efficient staff who have never yet failed to greet me (and others) with a ready smile and some amiable banter.

Dull, and that's not just the po-faced clentelle. Staff fine though. Dring fairly priced. Food very plain but cheap. Needs a good refurb. For heaven's sake din't ask for the volume of the occasional music to be turned up, the 'regulars' will have a coronary.
