First pub in Swansea and I decided to head to this large corner plot Spoons' pub. I arrived just after 12 noon & it was already busy. Quite a few diners but the majority of the crowd were enjoying the cheap ale and lagers. 10 ales across the 10 pumps, 5 serving regular ales like Ruddles and Doom Bar the other 5 offering guests. I opted for a pint of Lady Jane @ 5% from Grafton brewing, a good pint to start the day with and very cheap at £1.79. This is a large older style spoons with a raised area to the rear that has the feel of a library about it. The whole pub is open plan with booths for diners. Good pub to start my day in. lezford - 8 Sep 2014 14:09 |
Went here after completely failing to find any interesting beer at the Wig or Westbourne. Agree with other reviewers - they had a very nice selection of beer, but the place lacked any kind of atmosphere. They were also serving pints in plastic glasses - I assume this isn't a police requirement, because it didn't happen at other places we went, and was a bit naff. So, worthy but dull - which beats crowded but crap (Wig, Westbourne) or just crap (Crosse Keys). But I'd stick to the No Sign bar if I were you. paul154 - 10 Sep 2012 17:14 |
Busy but characterless JDW pub, with a good range of beers. Clientele seemed demotivated and there was no energy to the place. Good prices, but that's about all to recommend it. artieleblanc - 16 Aug 2012 22:01 |
A decent quality, well-run Wetherspoon's pub in Swansea city centre. Good beer selection but I have to say I stuck to the Brains SA as it is one of my favourites, and I wasn't disappointed. beermann - 21 Jun 2012 15:08 |
This was the second Wetherspoons we tried in Swansea and I found this one to be a slight improvement on the Bank Statement. Beers on were Greene King Ruddles Best & Abbot, Brains SA, Bread of Heaven & Rev James, Wharfebank Wispa IPA, O'Hanlons Flagship IPA, Thwaites Logan's Run, Robinsons Enigma, Batemans Smokey Joe. Unusually for a 'spoons, two of the ales were being dispensed by gravity. The cider was Sandford Orchards Fanny's Bramble. blue_scrumpy - 25 Mar 2012 13:44 |
