A strange pub this one. There was a very noisy crowd in the large rear room with loud music blasting out. Most were youngsters. It took an eternity to get served as the barmaids were overrun with people ordering cocktails and shots. However we soon discovered the quieter front bar, where a much older clientele were engaged in pleasant conversation, much as my ideal pub would be. All in this bar were much friendlier. I wouldn't rush back for the beers though - Pedigree, Tribute & Cumberland Ale. blue_scrumpy - 4 Feb 2018 16:01 |
Well I’ve heard of pubs being “wet led” and “dry led” – but this one is definitely “testosterone led” !! Went in there around 4pm on a Saturday afternoon, and the place was heaving – but the only woman in there was the barmaid ! As you might deduce from the above most were clad in football shirts, and there were several big screen sports TVs, but only showing “final score”, not any action. There was also loud music playing the whole time. The only other thing I remember about the decor is the large number of horse-racing prints on the walls. Beerwise it wasn’t too bad. There were 4 cask ales on, one from Sharps (not DB), Tiger and 2 from Black Sheep. I ordered a half of the standard Black Sheep, drank up quickly and left ! Martinsh - 21 Sep 2016 23:12 |
Echoing the other comments really. A "proper" pub, best one I've found in Stone. Decent pint, good jukebox, refreshing to be able to visit a pub that isn't part of a chain or pretend to be something it isn't. wanderingstar66 - 1 Feb 2012 18:30 |
Walked in and the beer looked promising but driven out by overly loud music before getting served. Pity looked nice. Wirral_RealAlians - 7 May 2011 15:48 |
Nice honest pub. 4 hand pumps with an interesting selection of beers. Good Juke Box and Pool Table. Good Boozer. pubinspectors - 10 Oct 2007 10:01 |
