| Not sure if this place is going to reopen after coronavirus lockdown? Signs on doors today (06/08/2020) saying "this Wetherspoons is closed". No great loss frankly, was handy if shopping in town centre but basically as far as clientele went it was "Chav Central", and the majority of teh staff appeared to be semi comatose at most times (unless serving their mates). | This pub "does what it says on the tin", Cheap beer , and I have never had a dodgy pint, plus the staff seem to know their stuff, probably because the manager has been there for a while. I have never eaten here , so I cannot comment on the menu. This W/spoons would never be confused with Ye Olde Hertfordshire Pubbe, but then again I would rather pay £ 2-10 for a tasty pint, than £4-20 ! | I had a pint of Good Old Boy from the West Kennet brewery and it was superb. Fresh, slightly chilled and flavoursome. The staff were friendly and polite and so were the two doormen which makes a nice change. Nice mixed Wetherspoons-type crowd, and 2 pints cost £4.25. If you're in the town centre shopping area, this is not a bad place to grab a pint or two, and much better than the Old Post Office next door. Number11 - 15 Mar 2015 18:21 |
| What is wrong with the management at this Wetherspoons? 3pm on a Saturday afternoon and only two staff serving behind the bar, (one of whom was a trainee). Staff very slow, and rubbish at knowing which customers have been waiting longest, shouting "OK who's next?" doesn't really work. Shame as the American IPAs were in good condition.
