Arguably the best pub in Wallingford. A locals pub but welcoming to visitors. Had Dolly on tap which was well kept amongst other ales. Sky sports which may be off putting to some, though there are two separate bars. Worth a visit. d.franks - 6 May 2017 11:54 |
Can't comment on the beer as I only had a shandy here, but the food was excellent: just burger and chips, and sandwiches, and both well-presented with a fresh salad that actually looked and was appetising. Staff were welcoming and fellow drinkers friendly enough. Mostly gaffers in one drinking bar; families and couples in the restaurant bar. This pub is certainly worth a visit for lunch until well into the afternoon. Mona_Growser - 8 Jul 2012 11:17 |
full of foul mouthed chavs. delpus - 3 Sep 2011 12:10 |
This pub failed to live up to my expectations with strange locals and hostile and unaccomodating bar staff. They advertise and show the football but were unwilling to have the cricket on, even without sound prior to the football being shown, instead having the televisions turned off. This despite us deciding to have lunch and afternoon drinks in their pub. The food was ok, me having the smokey burger, but the service was slow. Fairly centrally located. gumbo - 15 Aug 2011 14:21 |
Greene King range. Open before 1000 on a Sunday and serves an excellent and massive Full English at 5.50. Not cheap, I know, but double pretty much everything. Wallingford is a architecturally very interesting, but full of chavs on a Saturday night. It was like being on a drag strip there were so many brightly coloured VW Golfs with alloy wheels racing up and down at 50 mph. Deeply unpleasant. This pub was heaving, but had a fair atmosphere.
