Awfull lot of these 2 for the Price of 1 Marstons pubs in the area. Most of them are quite nice though they do lack atmosphere. At least the building gives this place a bit of individuality. Staff were very welcoming, i'm not used to such friendly service here in the UK. The beer was good and no complaints about the food either which was very good value at its 2 for 1 price. Now its a 2 for the Price of 1 chain pub - perfect for a family meal out and they do have the ability to cater for larger groups. Our waitress was fantsatic - offering things that weren't on the menu and taking control of a table of 20 with the authority last seen in the Waffen SS. This is a good thing. Meals seemed good value, drinks seemed on the expenisve side (9.95 for two pints and two soft drinks). Busy trade on a Sunday. Mappiman - 9 May 2011 17:12 |
Agree totaly with Garthrocketts comment. The Piat Dor red was 2. 40p more than nearby pub, 9.70 is a rip off for this wine.Otherwise the place is pleasant enough and the staff are fine. Banks Bitter and Cumberland ale. bee578 - 13 Oct 2008 11:19 |
The hordes of teenagers of yesteryear have all gone...thankfully. But the place is now essentially a restaurant more than a pub, with the usual pub-grub fare on offer. Nothing special, but nothing too horrible either- except the drink prices. Busy at lunchtimes. Nice to sit outside in summer next to the canal and watch the narrow boats go by. No life in this place, or their staff. Food was average but took DAYS to arrive. anonymous - 9 May 2007 22:40 |
