The couple who run this pub are very friendly and welcoming. The drinks are good with well kept London Pride (my favourite). The seats are comfy and there are lots of nice little niches where you can gather with your friends and chat. The decor is very unusual - it's like being in the galley of an old ship. There's a pool table and a juke box (which isn't too loud). The food is traditional Scottish. I can't understand why the Daniel Gooch is not more popular - it is everything a good local ought to be. canoeingdan - 7 Dec 2011 00:43 |
decent place to go for football. got a big screen and plenty of seats. has black sheep on tap, which gives it a boost. staff are friendly. clientele nice enough, often made up of footballers who have finished playing at the sports centre just down the road. right next to the tube station. not bad, not bad at all. This is a pretty nice pub (if you're not a snob) Watched the football in a freindly atmosphere and the beer (London Pride) was fine. It's not as posh as the Porchester up the road but much better value. ben21 - 12 Feb 2009 10:20 |
Umm Its a cellar and not a very nice one. They have football, they have a dartboard, they have a pool table and they have the sort of clientele that wouldnt look out of place in a post apocalyptic horror film, all tattoos, shaven heads and knuckles dragging in the dust. You can literally smell the testosterone mingling in the air along with the smell from the toilets and the aroma of deep-fried something in batter possibly one of the customers, who knows? Didnt hang around long; hate the sound of duelling banjos. Possibly the only place I know besides the Eagle in Ladbroke Grove that should have a sign over the door that says: Abandon all hope, ye who enter here. trasker - 6 Jan 2009 22:51 |
Friendly enough but a bit souless due to its size more than anything. Wish staff had more conversation for all not just the regulars. Innbusiness - 3 Feb 2008 21:52 |
