Corporate feel (i.e. no character) in a pub that should have loads - ale, Harvest Pale was duff too. Not sure how this is in the GBG. Snarling_Mallard - 4 Sep 2018 22:36 |
After leaving the Morning Star I headed down the hill to this place arriving @ 12.20pm. Also GBG 2017 listed. The last poster gives a good description of the place. Some quite loud piped music was playing. In a side room a TV was showing some footy. They have 4 hand pulls for Old Speckled Hen, Charnwoods Hubble Bubble, TT Landlord and Castle Rock Harvest Pale. I had a pint of the later which was so nice I had another @ £3.30 a pint. bjbrummiejohn - 4 Nov 2016 13:02 |
Large pub on the hill on the main road leading North out of town, close to the Cathedral. It advertises itself as Lincoln's oldest pub but this isn't really reflected on the inside, with two large areas in an L-shaped around the bar. pleasant enough but unremarkable, and not escaping the inevitable chainy feeling. A pool room is also found at the back, which has an original fireplace which is sadly out of use. The beers available were Black Sheep, Landlord and Exmoor Gold, tried them all and all were in good condition, and although it's not the most exciting choice in Lincoln, it's perfectly acceptable. There are more traditional pubs and pubs with better beer choices in Lincoln, but I did warm to this place, enjoyed the atmosphere here and would gladly return. Carlurmston - 4 Jul 2010 17:51 |
A great pub. It still hasn't quite found it's identity but is pushing the real ales and has recently got its Cask Marque. Simple pub fare presented nicely and very helpful bar staff. Come here on a hot day and make use of the garden or a cold night round the fires. Big_Walrus - 26 Jul 2007 12:20 |
