| I thought I'd done all of the best pubs in Newark. But then I came across the Fox & Crown. Another superb pub. Don't remember too much about this one as I was getting well oiled. But I do remember that the pub had a couple of rooms with a central bar and an efficient barmaid. It was reasonably quiet. Being a Castle Rock pub, they had Harvest Pale, Screech Owl & Preservation. But they also had a number of guests - Furnace C Bomb, Pheasantry Best Bitter & Black Pheasant, Black Iris Better The Devil You Know & Linear Summer Wit. Ciders were Abrahall's Lily The Pink & Thundering Molly, Cotswold Cider Company No Brainer, Lilley's Bee Sting Perry & Mango Cider, Mr Whitehead's Equinox, Broadoak Moonshine, Circle Butcher's Boy & Worley's Beatnik Billy. | Popped into this pub on recent visit to Newark, great selection of ales available. Had Lancaster Black & Clarks Traditional both excellent. Food also reasonably priced and tasty. Would definately call back when back in newark boroboy23 - 15 Apr 2012 15:33 |

| I have to disagree with the comments i have read, I frequent Newark fairly often to vist friends and we often find ourselves in the fox. every time i have been I have found the service fantastic the staff over helpful and there's always a cheery face on both sides of the bar. The food is good value for money and the band nights are great fun. I would truly recommend having a vist, if only to tease the grumpy yet amusing land lord I say this in jest he as fun as the rest of the staff there. it may not be the most happening place in Newark, but certainly one you can go and feel welcome and make a new friend or to.
