Went there on Friday night (11th April) and was blown away by this new little bar. decorated beautifully, huge tables, leather chairs, tasteful. The band were playing not too loudly when I arrived... and they honestly are one of the best gig bands I have heard - the singer didn't sing one note out of tune, and the drummer (rumoured to be ex Dire Straits) was spine-tingling! Apparently they are a fixture on Fri nights. I had curried chicken with rice and peas... well if it could have lasted all night I would have been a very happy woman. It was DELICIOUS. Authentic, good portion, hot. My husband had the curried goat which he raved about (and he's a chef and very hard to please!). Service was a bit slow, but they seem to be finding their feet. My friends and I had a fantastic evening, and shall be going back again soon, and again after that... cissy - 13 Apr 2008 22:56 |
This is now "Amaryllis Bar and Kitchen". Intend to check it out as soon as the next wage packet approaches my general location. anonymous - 18 Mar 2008 17:34 |

Still got the builders in there, hoping fervently that this will be a lovely little place to go. Anyone got any news on this? anonymous - 9 Jan 2008 11:46 |
A very decent, if quiet, pub. Friendly landlord and staff. No nonsense decor. Good place to escape the yuppies across the street and read a paper. mrfalafel - 18 Jul 2007 10:12 |
